''Winter Symphony'' is the fourth album release from Jennifer Thomas, and her first Christmas album. The music was written and/or arranged by Thomas, with orchestrations by Glen Gabriel. Thomas performs on both piano and violin throughout. Also featured on the album is The Ensign Chorus, Felicia Farerre, Taylor Davis, and players from The Salt Lake Pops Orchestra, The Utah Symphony, and the Chochin Chamber Orchestra. The album encompasses many traditional Christmas favorites, two new originals by Thomas, as well as some film score covers. Jennifer Thomas (pianist)
Jennifer Thomas (born June 23, 1977) is an American pianist, violinist, composer, performing artist, and recording artist. She was classically trained starting at the age of 5, and began composing in 2003, later releasing her debut album in 2007. Thomas has issued six albums, the latest, ''The Fire Within'', was released in October 2018, and debuted at number 3 in the ''Billboard'' Classical music charts, number 2 in their Classical Crossover music charts, and number 25 in the Top Heatseekers. Several of her original compositions and arrangements have been used in routines by International Skating Union Ice skaters at the 2022 Winter Olympics and by 2020 Summer Olympics gymnasts. Utah Symphony
The Utah Symphony is an American orchestra based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The orchestra's principal venue is Abravanel Hall. In addition to its Salt Lake City subscription concerts, the orchestra travels around the Intermountain West serving communities throughout Utah. The orchestra accompanies the Utah Opera in four productions per year at Salt Lake's Capitol Theatre. In addition, the Utah Symphony and Utah Opera have a summer residency at the Deer Valley Music Festival, located in Park City, Utah. The orchestra receives funding from the Utah State Legislature for educational concerts. Taylor Davis (born March 20, 1987) is an American violinist, arranger, and composer. Davis is best known for her violin-covers of music from video games featured on her YouTube channel "Taylor Davis", where she also features performances of her own arrangements of music from films and musicals. "Angels We Have Heard on High" is a Christmas carol to the hymn tune "Gloria" from a traditional French song of unknown origin called "", with paraphrased English lyrics by James Chadwick. The song's subject is the birth of Jesus Christ as narrated in the Gospel of Luke, specifically the scene outside Bethlehem in which shepherds encounter a multitude of angels singing and praising the newborn child. Tune "Angels We Have Heard on High" is generally sung to the hymn tune "Gloria", a traditional French carol as arranged by Edward Shippen Barnes. "I Saw Three Ships (Come Sailing In)" is an English Christmas carol, listed as number 700 in the Roud Folk Song Index. The earliest printed version of "I Saw Three Ships" is from the 17th century, possibly Derbyshire, and was also published by William Sandys in 1833.
