Winter Charles Renouf
Winter Charles Renouf CIE (1868 – 28 June 1954) was a British member of the Indian Civil Service who specialised in agriculture. He was also a justice of the peace in India and political agent at Bahawalpur. In 1921, he was president of the Cantonment Reforms Committee set up by the Government of India. He retired in 1922. Renouf was a noted philatelist who was one of the first to take an interest in early Indian postal markings and British Indian stamps used abroad. He edited '' The Philatelic Journal of India'' and was Hon. Vice-President of the Philatelic Society of India. In 1921, he signed the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists. His philatelic work was continued by Jal Cooper and his classification system of Indian postal markings continues to be referred to as "Renouf types". A signature (; from la, signare, "to sign") is a handwritten (and often stylized) depiction of someone's name, nickname, or even a simple "X" or other mark that a person writes on documents as a proof of identity and intent. The writer of a signature is a signatory or signer. Similar to a handwritten signature, a signature work describes the work as readily identifying its creator. St Clement, Jersey
St Clement (Jèrriais: ''Saint Cliément'') is one of the twelve parishes of Jersey in the Channel Islands. Its parish hall is around south-east of St Helier. The parish has a population of 9,221 and is the second most densely populated. Located on the south-east coast of the island, stretching from Le Dicq in the west to near La Rocque in the east, it is the smallest parish, with a surface area of just 2,440 vergées (4 km2). The parish is largely suburbanised, with a large spread of post-war low-density housing development. There is no easily definable centre to the parish. Robson Lowe
John Harry Robson Lowe (7 January 1905, London – 19 August 1997, Bournemouth) was an English professional philatelist, stamp dealer and stamp auctioneer. Life and career Lowe is regarded by philatelists as the father of postal history, having published many definitive works on the subject and having introduced the term in his first major book ''Handstruck Postage Stamps of the Empire 1680–1900'' in 1948. In 1970 he was awarded the Lichtenstein Medal by the Collectors Club of New York. He started his philatelic career at Fox & Co. in 1926 and then established his own firm, Robson Lowe Ltd., in Regent Street, London, in 1926. He moved to 50 Pall Mall in 1940 and ran an auction business from Bournemouth starting in 1945. For health reasons he was unable to serve in the military during World War Two.
