Winter (Love And Money Song)
"Winter" is a song by Scottish band Love and Money, which was released in 1991 as the third and final single from their third studio album ''Dogs in the Traffic''. The song was written by James Grant and produced by Steve Nye. "Winter" reached No. 52 in the UK Singles Chart and remained in the Top 100 for two weeks. Release "Winter" was originally to be released as the first single from ''Dogs in the Traffic'', with a scheduled release date of 28 May 1991. However, shortly before its release date, Fontana chose to release " My Love Lives in a Dead House" in favour of "Winter" as they felt the song's title would hinder its success during the spring season. "Winter" was later released as the album's third and final single on 18 November 1991. As a publicity stunt to generate airplay on BBC Radio 1, Fontana organised the dumping of three tons of snow outside the BBC's headquarters, Broadcasting House. Love And Money (band)
Love and Money are a Scottish rock/soul/funk band, formed in 1985 in Glasgow, Scotland. The band was formed by three former members of Friends Again (singer-songwriter and guitarist James Grant, drummer Stuart Kerr and keyboardist Paul McGeechan) along with bassist Bobby Paterson, who replaced Friends Again's Neil Cunningham and who had been a member of Set the Tone, a band previously signed to Island Records in 1983. In their initial nine years together they recorded four moderately successful albums, three of which were released in the United States, and had six chart hits in the United Kingdom. ''All You Need Is... Love And Money'' Signing to Phonogram's Mercury Records in the United Kingdom, they recorded "Candybar Express", with production from Duran Duran's Andy Taylor, and this recording became their first hit receiving airplay in the U.S. and reaching number 56 in the UK Singles Chart in the spring of 1986. The ''Daily Express'' is a national daily United Kingdom middle-market newspaper printed in tabloid format. Published in London, it is the flagship of Express Newspapers, owned by publisher Reach plc. It was first published as a broadsheet in 1900 by Sir Arthur Pearson. Its sister paper, the ''Sunday Express'', was launched in 1918. In June 2022, it had an average daily circulation of 201,608. Stylorouge is a graphic design studio based in Yalding, Kent, formed in London by creative director Rob O'Connor in 1981. Gary Katz
Gary Katz is an American record producer, best known for his work on albums by Steely Dan. Katz has also produced numerous other recording artists and assisted in the discovery and signing of a number of subsequently successful acts. Career A lifelong music fan, Katz grew up in Brooklyn listening to Chuck Berry and Fats Domino on a transistor radio. He had friends in the band Jay and the Americans who were his connection to the music business. The band worked with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, who produced hit records for the Coasters and the Drifters. After Katz spent time with Leiber and Stoller in the studio, he realized he wanted to be a record producer. His first job after graduating from school was with singer Bobby Darin. Darin admired Bobby Kennedy, and when Kennedy was shot, Darin dropped out of music. Katz found work at Avco Embassy, but two years later the company closed. Stuart Bruce (engineer)
Stuart Robert Bruce (born 20 October 1962) is an English recording engineer. He was the engineer for the recording of the Band Aid's charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" on 25 November 1984. He was born in Northolt, Middlesex. Bruce started his career at Trevor Horn's Sarm West Studios. When Horn offered Bob Geldof and Midge Ure the studio free of charge for 24 hours to record the charity single, but was unavailable to produce it, Bruce was approached to engineer and mix what became one of the biggest selling singles ever. With many of the most famous artists of the time participating, and seven film crews in attendance, he worked straight through that day and night. The song was written by James Grant and produced by Andy Taylor. "Candybar Express" reached number 56 in the UK Singles Chart and number 10 on the '' Billboard'' Hot Dance/Disco Club Play chart. Background Grant wrote "Candybar Express" while on tour with his former band Friends Again. He wanted to write something similar to Wham!'s 1982 hit " Young Guns (Go for It)", but "more cynical". ''Strange Kind of Love'' is the second studio album by Scottish band Love and Money, released in 1988. The album's lead single " Halleluiah Man" reached number 63 in the UK Singles Chart and number 75 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The following singles, " Strange Kind of Love", " Jocelyn Square" and " Up Escalator" were all released in 1989 and reached number 45, number 51 and number 79 respectively in the UK Singles Chart.
