Winston Noble
Henry Winston Noble (5 July 1909 – 28 March 1964) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Noble was born at Brisbane, Queensland, the son of the Alexander Noble and his wife Alice Ann (née Wood). He was educated at Brisbane Grammar School and went on to the University of Queensland and the University of Sydney where he earned his MBBS. He became a resident medical officer in Sydney before heading back to Brisbane and working as a medical practitioner in Brisbane. Elections were held in the Australian state of Queensland on 29 April 1950 to elect the 75 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The Labor government was seeking its seventh continuous term in office since the 1932 election; it would be Premier Ned Hanlon's second election. Elections were held in the Australian state of Queensland on 3 May 1947 to elect the 62 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The election was the first that the Labor government had contested under Premier Ned Hanlon, who had been in office for 14 months by the time of the poll. Electoral District Of South Brisbane
South Brisbane, also known as Brisbane South, is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The electorate encompasses suburbs in Brisbane's inner-south, stretching from East Brisbane to West End, and south to Annerley. Parts of Greenslopes and Coorparoo are also located in the electorate. South Brisbane is Queensland's oldest electorate, being the only one of the original 16 districts to have been contested at every election. It has generally been considered a safe seat for the Labor Party since 1915, but has in recent election cycles shifted in favour of the Greens. Vince Gair
Vincent Clair Gair (25 February 190111 November 1980) was an Australian politician. He served as Premier of Queensland from 1952 until 1957, when his stormy relations with the trade union movement saw him expelled from the Labor Party. He was elected to the Australian Senate and led the Democratic Labor Party from 1965 to 1973. In 1974 he was appointed Australian Ambassador to Ireland by the Whitlam government, which caused his expulsion from the DLP. Early life Gair was born in Rockhampton to John Alexander and Catherine Mary Gair, a Scottish father and an Irish mother, and raised a Catholic. His parents were founding members of the Labor Party in Queensland in the 1890s. He began work with the Department of Railways upon the family's move to Dutton Park, Queensland. In 1916 he joined the Labor Party. He married Florence Glynn in 1924. She died in an accident five years later. Mt Thompson Crematorium
Mount Thompson Memorial Gardens and Crematorium (formerly Brisbane Crematorium) includes a heritage-listed chapel (the West Chapel), columbaria and other features.
