Winston Churchill High School (San Antonio, Texas)
Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio, Texas is part of the North East Independent School District. It is named after Sir Winston Churchill, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The school serves portions of the city of San Antonio along with the towns of Hill Country Village and Hollywood Park. Churchill first opened for classes in 1966, funded by a 1960 school district bond that also established Roosevelt High School and the Blossom Athletic Center. The school mascot is the Charger while the British Union Flag and lion are used as additional symbols. The school was referenced in the 1996 movie '' Lone Star''. In 2017, the school was rated " Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency, with a 3-Star Distinction for Academic Achievements in ELA/Reading, Science, and Social Studies. Glenn Blackwood
Glenn Allen Blackwood (born February 23, 1957) is a former professional football player, He played Safety (gridiron football position), safety for nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Biography Blackwood was born in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Winston Churchill High School (San Antonio), Churchill High School. He attended the University of Texas. His brother Lyle Blackwood also played in the NFL, and they were teammates from 1981 through 1986 with the Miami Dolphins. Trenton Estep (born November 24, 1999) is an American professional racing driver. Estep grew up racing karts from the age of 4 years old in New Braunfels, Texas. He competed in various karting competitions such as SKUSA Pro Tour, Florida Winter Tour, US Open and Rotax Grand Finals in Portugal. In 2016 he made the transition from karts to open wheel cars.
