Winston Chow
Winston K.H. Chow is a student leader and community activist from New York City known for strong advocacy of students’ rights in public higher education and involvement in Asian American and immigrant rights issues. From 2003-2004 he was elected President of the Student Government representing BMCC of the City University of New York (CUNY). In office, he represented a student population of 26,000. He is the first Chinese-American to take this office since the college's founding in 1963. Strong opinions voiced by Chow's supporters and faculty of the CUNY administration's negative treatment of low-income students culminated in a free speech conflict involving the New York City Council in 2004. BMCC
The Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) is a public community college in New York City. Founded in 1963 as part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system, BMCC grants associate degrees in a wide variety of vocational, business, health, science, engineering and continuing education fields. BMCC's original campus was scattered all over midtown Manhattan, utilizing office spaces, hotel conference rooms, and various spaces throughout Manhattan. In the mid-1970s, CUNY began scouting for suitable property on which to erect a new campus of its own. The current campus has been in use since 1983. Currently, with an enrollment of over 27,000 students the BMCC student body is nearly two-thirds female and has a median age of 24, with attending students hailing from over 100 different countries. The Dead Boys
The Dead Boys are an American punk rock band from Cleveland, Ohio, United States. The band was among the first wave of punk, and regarded by many as one of the rowdiest and most violent groups of the era. They were formed by vocalist Stiv Bators, rhythm guitarist Jimmy Zero, bassist Jeff Magnum, lead guitarist Cheetah Chrome, and drummer Johnny Blitz in 1975, with the later two having splintered from the band Rocket From The Tombs. The original Dead Boys released two studio albums, ''Young Loud and Snotty'', and '' We Have Come for Your Children''. The Dead Boys were initially active from 1975 to 1980, briefly reuniting a few times in the mid-1980s, and then later again in 2004 and 2005 for the first time without Bators, who had died in 1990. The Shirts are a New York-based American punk band, which was formed in 1975. The band's early existence (1975 to 1981) was closely linked with CBGB, a music club in the Bowery, but it reformed with many of the early members in 2003 and is currently active. Blondie is an American Rock music, rock band co-founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. The Cramps
The Cramps were an American rock band formed in 1976 and active until 2006. Their lineup rotated frequently during their existence, with the husband-and-wife duo of singer Lux Interior and guitarist Poison Ivy the only ever-present members. Richard Hell and the Voidoids were an American punk rock band, formed in New York City in 1976 and fronted by Richard Hell, a former member of the Neon Boys, Television and the Heartbreakers. The Fleshtones are an American garage rock band from Queens, New York, United States, formed in 1976.
