Winspit
Winspit is a disused quarry on the cliffs near Worth Matravers in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, England. To the west and east are the hills of West Man and East Man. Until around 1940 Winspit was used as a stone quarry, providing stone for buildings in London. During World War II it was used as a site for naval and air defences. After the war the caves were opened to the public. The quarry is now a lesser-known tourist attraction. Recently many of Winspit's caves have been closed off for public safety and bat conservation. In March 2022, it was announced that the National Trust had purchased the 350 acre Weston Farm, including Winspit and its bat caves, adding to its other landholdings in the village and its vicinity such as Spyway. ''Destiny of the Daleks'' is the first serial of the 17th season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in four weekly parts on BBC1 from 1 September to 22 September 1979. ''Andor'', also known as ''Star Wars: Andor'', is an American science-fiction action-adventure television series created by Tony Gilroy for the streaming service Disney+. Worth Matravers
Worth Matravers () is a village and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the England, English county of Dorset. The village is situated on the cliffs west of Swanage. It comprises limestone cottages and farm houses and is built around a pond, which is a regular feature on postcards of the Isle of Purbeck. The civil parish stretches from the coast northwards to, and just beyond, the A351 road (Great Britain), A351 road from Corfe Castle (village), Corfe Castle to Swanage. Skaro is a fictional planet in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. It was created by the writer Terry Nation as the home planet of the Daleks. Isle Of Purbeck
The Isle of Purbeck is a peninsula in Dorset, England. It is bordered by water on three sides: the English Channel to the south and east, where steep cliffs fall to the sea; and by the marshy lands of the River Frome and Poole Harbour to the north. Its western boundary is less well defined, with some medieval sources placing it at Flower's Barrow above Worbarrow Bay. John Hutchins, author of ''The History and Antiquities of the County of Dorset'', defined Purbeck's western boundary as the Luckford Lake steam, which runs south from the Frome. According to writer and broadcaster Ralph Wightman, Purbeck "is only an island if you accept the barren heaths between Arish Mell and Wareham as cutting off this corner of Dorset as effectively as the sea." Dorset is a rural county in south west England. Its archaeology documents much of the history of southern England. Pre-Roman The first known settlement of Dorset was by Mesolithic hunters, who returned to Britain at a time when it was still attached to Europe by a land-bridge, around 12,500 BC. The population was very small, maybe only a few thousand across the whole of Britain, and concentrated along the coast: in Dorset, such places as the Isle of Purbeck, Weymouth, Chesil Beach and Hengistbury Head, and along the Stour valley. These populations used stone tools and fire to clear some of the native oak forest for herding prey. The Underwater Menace
''The Underwater Menace'' is the half-missing fifth serial of the fourth season in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 14 January to 4 February 1967. In this serial, the Doctor (Patrick Troughton), Ben (Michael Craze), Polly (Anneke Wills) and their new friend Jamie McCrimmon (Frazer Hines) arrive in the underwater city of Atlantis, where an eccentric scientist called Zaroff (Joseph Furst) plots to destroy the Earth by draining its ocean supply.
