Winslow is a market town and Civil parishes in England, civil parish designated as a town council in the north of the Unitary Authority of Buckinghamshire, England. It has a population of just over 4,400. It is located approximately south-east of Buckingham, and south-west of Bletchley (Milton Keynes). History Winslow was first recorded in a royal charter of 792–793 in which it was granted by Offa of Mercia to St Albans Abbey as ''Wineshauue'', which means ''Wine's Burial Mound'' The Domesday Book of 1086 records it as ''Weneslai''. A late Celtic copper torc has been found here, and also a silver drinking-cup of late Roman design. The 1841 census reveals the population that year was 1,333. Notable buildings Winslow Hall sits on the main road leading into the town from Aylesbury. Winslow Reef is an underwater feature of the Phoenix Islands, Republic of Kiribati, located north-northwest of McKean Island at . It is the northernmost and westernmost feature of the Phoenix Islands, not counting the outlying Baker and Howland Islands. It has a least depth of . The reef is about long east–west, and about half that wide. The bottom is pink coral and red sand. Winslow Marine Railway and Shipbuilding Company was a shipyard in Puget Sound that operated from 1903 until 1959 on Bainbridge Island, Washington, United States. The shipyard was built as an expansion of Hall Bros. Marine Railway & Shipbuilding Company of Port Blakely, Washington, on near the village of Madrone, later renamed Winslow after the dead brother of shipyard owner Henry Hall. It built five-masted schooners whose design allowed cargo to be loaded both fore and aft. Different facilities were included in this yard. It were marine railway, a powerhouse, sawmill, joiner loft, warehouse, shipways. In 1916, Hall sold the Winslow yard to Captain James Griffiths, who renamed it Winslow Marine Railway & Shipbuilding Co. The following year, Griffiths leased the yard to D. W. The Winslow Chemical Laboratory was a laboratory of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute campus in Troy, New York, United States, which finished construction in 1866. It is named in honor of the 5th President of RPI, John F. Winslow, who donated half of the construction cost. The building is brick with stone trimmings and was originally constructed with butternut, chestnut and black walnut. The whole building was fitted for complete courses in general and analytical chemistry. The design and construction was overseen by Professor Henry B. Nason, head of the department of chemistry at the Institute. The lower story contained the metallurgical laboratory and second story contained the chemical laboratory, store rooms and work rooms.
