The Winnipeg Sea Bears are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, that competes in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Canadian Elite Basketball League
The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) is a men's professional minor league basketball organization. The CEBL was founded in 2017 and began play in 2019 with six teams competing all owned and operated by ownership group Canadian Basketball Ventures. The league currently consists of ten teams from six different provinces, with four being from Ontario, two from Alberta and one each from the provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Quebec, making the CEBL the largest professional sports league based entirely in Canada. Canada Life Centre (formerly MTS Centre and Bell MTS Place) is an indoor arena in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba. The arena is the home of the National Hockey League's Winnipeg Jets and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Manitoba Moose. The arena stands on the former Eaton's site and is owned and operated by True North Sports & Entertainment. David Asper
David Asper (born November 26, 1958) is a Canadian lawyer and businessman, currently serving as Acting Dean (education), Dean of Robson Hall, the law faculty of the University of Manitoba. Asper is the son of Canwest founder Izzy Asper, and is now the head of his family's namesake charitable foundation. As a lawyer, he served on David Milgaard's legal team that overturned his wrongful conviction and later became a professor. Michael Richard Taylor (born August 29, 1972) is an American basketball coach. He currently serves as head coach for the Winnipeg Sea Bears of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Previously, he was head coach of the Poland national team, which he led to the Round of 16 at the 2015 EuroBasket and the quarter-finals of the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
