Harry Wingfield
John Henry "Harry" Wingfield (4 December 1910 – 5 March 2002) was an English illustrator, best known for his drawings that illustrated the Ladybird Books Key Words Reading Scheme (also known as ''Peter and Jane'') in the 1960s through to the 1980s, which sold over 80 million copies worldwide. Wingfield was born in Denby, near Derby, the son of a blastfurnace man. He grew up in Manchester and Derbyshire. Hoping to become an engineer, he failed to obtain an apprenticeship to Rolls-Royce, which he thought was because of his stammer. He started his first job in an advertising agency in Derby, aged 16, and then worked in Walsall and Birmingham. He took evening classes in drawing, where he met his wife, Ethel and he served in the RAF in the Second World War as a driver in the RAF regiment. Based in the Azores he painted camouflage but also gained a reputation for painting portraits of colleagues and family members. Mervyn Wingfield, 8th Viscount Powerscourt
Mervyn Richard Wingfield, 8th Viscount Powerscourt (16 July 1880 – 21 March 1947) was an Irish peer. Life Wingfield was born to Mervyn Wingfield, 7th Viscount Powerscourt, whom he succeeded as Viscount Powerscourt in 1904. He was commissioned in the Irish Guards in February 1901, and promoted to Lieutenant on 3 July 1901. The Irish Guards had been created in 1900, and Wingfield was chosen to carry the colours at the first presentation of Colours to the Regiment on 30 May 1902, following which he was appointed a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO). He was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Wicklow on 15 February 1910 and created a Knight of the Order of St Patrick on 18 April 1916. Lord Powerscourt died on 21 March 1947. Mervyn Wingfield, 7th Viscount Powerscourt
Mervyn Edward Wingfield, 7th Viscount Powerscourt (13 October 1836 – 5 June 1904) was an Irish peer. He became Viscount Powerscourt in 1844 on the death of his father Richard Wingfield, 6th Viscount Powerscourt. Through this Wingfield line he was a maternal descendant of the Noble House of Stratford. His mother was Lady Elizabeth Frances Charlotte, daughter of Robert Jocelyn, 3rd Earl of Roden. On 26 April 1864, Wingfield married Lady Julia Coke, the daughter of Thomas Coke, 2nd Earl of Leicester. Martin Wingfield
Martin Wingfield (born 1951) is a British far-right politician. Wingfield is long-standing figure in the British nationalist movement, he and his wife, Tina Wingfield, having contested several elections since the 1980s. Biography National Front Disillusioned with the Liberal Party, Wingfield joined the National Front in 1976 and quickly rose in the party, winning election to the National Directorate in 1980. He became editor of the ''National Front News'' for a time, from 1983. He was briefly expelled from the party by John Tyndall after attempting to take control of the Sussex branch of the party from Tyndall's father-in-law Charles Parker by publishing a dissident paper the ''Sussex Front''. Mervyn Wingfield
Captain Mervyn Robert George Wingfield (16 January 1911–15 March 2005) was a Royal Navy officer who served in submarines throughout World War II, narrowly surviving a sinking after a collision in the North Sea, and was the first British submarine commander to sink a Japanese submarine. Early life Wingfield was born in Rathgar, Ireland, youngest son of Colonel the Rev William Wingfield, Royal Field Artillery. His father had been awarded a DSO at Gallipoli. He was educated at Bedford School and Pangbourne College, entering Dartmouth Naval College as a cadet at the age of 14. Mark Wingfield is an English guitarist and composer based in the UK. Most of his output is rooted in jazz, but he is also active in contemporary classical music. Jenny Wingfield is an American screenwriter and novelist. Born in Fountain Hill, Arkansas, Wingfield spent much of her childhood in Louisiana, where her father was a preacher. She attended Southern State College (now Southern Arkansas University) in Magnolia, and after graduating taught languages for several years. James Digman Wingfield
James Digman Wingfield (1800–1872) was a British painter, known mainly for historical subjects, as well as for landscapes, portraits, and interiors. Wingfield was a member of the Royal Academy, where he displayed a number of portraits in 1835-1836. From then until 1872 he exhibited more than 38 works at the Royal Academy, 94 at the British Institution, and 41 at Suffolk Street Exhibitions (later to become the Royal Society of British Artists). He had a successful career: individual works by Wingfield were priced at around 100 pounds during his lifetime. Wingfield was a resident of London during the period that he was active and scenes of London were featured in his works. Occasionally his paintings depicted specific incidents in literature or history; Pope was a favorite.
