Anna Lillian Winegar (1867-1941) was an American painter and illustrator. From about 1900 until 1935 she was associated with the Artists of Bronxville. Early life and education Anna Lillian Winegar was born in 1867 in Plainwell, Michigan. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1892. Winegar studied in Italy and Paris with Frank Edwin Scott, Giuseppe Costelini, Franklin Bothe, Raphael Collin and Kerson. Hendrik Winegar House was a historic home located at Amenia in Dutchess County, New York. The structure was demolished after decades of neglect. Amenia (town), New York
Amenia is a town in Dutchess County, New York, United States. The population was 4,436 at the 2010 census. The town is on the eastern border of the county. History Amenia is one of the original towns formed by act of March 7, 1788. It comprises the width of the Oblong Tract, and the east tier of lots in the Great Nine Partners Patent. Inhabitants prior to European incursion were Pequot, in a village on the west side of a pond they called Wequagnoch. Along with related Native Americans from Connecticut, they held pow wows on land both before and after the incorporation of the town. In 1703 Richard Sackett was granted a patent for land along Wassaic Creek. As this land was already included in the previous Great Nine Partners Patent, Sackett's title was invalid. Sackett was also one of the partners in the Little Nine Partners Patent. 1958 College World Series
The 1958 NCAA University Division baseball tournament was played at the end of the 1958 NCAA University Division baseball season to determine the national champion of college baseball. The tournament concluded with eight teams competing in the College World Series, a double-elimination tournament in its twelfth year. Eight regional districts sent representatives to the College World Series with preliminary rounds within each district serving to determine each representative. These events would later become known as regionals. Each district had its own format for selecting teams, resulting in 26 teams participating in the tournament at the conclusion of their regular season, and in some cases, after a conference tournament. The College World Series was held in Omaha, NE from June 13 to June 19. The twelfth tournament's champion was Southern California, coached by Rod Dedeaux. Texas Tech University traditions are an important part of the culture of Texas Tech University. Music The Goin' Band from Raiderland is the 450-member marching band of Texas Tech University. The Goin' Band's repertoire of performance music varies widely, ranging from traditional marches to jazz pieces to the works of Elton John and Carlos Santana. The Goin' Band makes use of both traditional-style marching (formations moving goal-line to goal-line) and corps-style (formations while playing to the sidelines) in its performances. The Goin' Band also incorporates some of the tactics of scramble bands. Mascots The Masked Rider The Masked Rider, Texas Tech's primary mascot, dates back to a 1936 prank. Thomas Young (February 19, 1731 – June 24, 1777) was doctor, philosopher and a member of the Boston Committee of Correspondence and an organizer of the Boston Tea Party. Young was a mentor and teacher to Ethan Allen. Early life and activities Thomas Young was born February 19, 1731 in Little Britain, New Windsor, New York.
