"Windą do nieba" (English: "A Lift to Heaven") is a 1977 song by Polish band 2 Plus 1. Song information The song was composed as a pop ballad by Janusz Kruk, the leader of the band, and the lyrics were written by Marek Dutkiewicz, a popular Polish lyricist and journalist. It first appeared on a cardboard record released by Tonpress in 1977, a popular medium often replacing the single format in the pre-1990s Poland. In 1978, "Windą do nieba" was released on 2 Plus 1's fourth LP, '' Teatr na drodze'', and as the B-side on the "Ding-dong" single, both by Polskie Nagrania Muza. The band performed both "Windą do nieba" and "Ding-dong" at the Sopot Festival in 1978, and won the first prize. "Windą do nieba" remains one of the most widely known songs in the band's repertoire, as well as the so-called "evergreen", since it has become deeply rooted in the history of Polish popular music. Elżbieta Dmoch
Elżbieta Dmoch (born September 29, 1951) is a Polish singer and flautist, former member of the popular band 2 Plus 1. Career Dmoch started to attend singing lessons in her earliest years. She went to a musical school, where she learned to play flute and piano. At the end of the 1960s, she became a member of Warszawskie Kuranty, a band founded by Janusz Kruk. In January 1971, Janusz and Elżbieta formed a new group, 2 Plus 1, which went on to enjoy a mainstream popularity in Poland in the 1970s and the first half of the 1980s. In 1974, at the Sopot Festival, Dmoch won a trophy for the "most attractive singer". She received the same title two years later at the Opole Festival. In 1979, Polish Council of State awarded her with the Cross of Merit. Dmoch composed the song "Naga plaża" for the 2 Plus 1 album ''Video'', released in 1985. Marta Katarzyna Wiktoria Wiśniewska, professionally known as Mandaryna, born Marta Mandrykiewicz on 12 March 1978 in Łódź, Poland, is a Polish singer, dancer and actress. She rose to fame as the dancer of Polish pop group Ich Troje, and the partner of its leader, Michał Wiśniewski. Sopot Festival
The Sopot International Song Festival or Sopot Festival (later called ''Sopot Music Festival Grand Prix'', ''Sopot Top of the Top Festival'' from 2012–13 and ''Polsat Sopot Festival'' in 2014) is an annual international song contest held in Sopot, Poland. It is the biggest Polish music festival altogether with the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole, and one of the biggest song contests in Europe. The contest was organised and transmitted live by the public Polish Television (TVP) between 1994 and 2004. The following year, the concert was broadcast by the private media station TVN for the first time and remained on TVN until 2009. From 2012 to 2014, the concert was broadcast and organised by Polsat.
