Windsor Festival International String Competition
The Windsor Festival International String Competition is a music competition held in the United Kingdom for performers of violin, cello, and viola. The event is held biennially at Windsor Castle in Windsor. It aims to seeks out exceptional young string soloists, and to, through the prize package, launch the winner’s professional career. History In 2008, Windsor Festival launched its International String Competition in honour of Sir Yehudi Menuhin. Competition format The first round is judged by submission of a video, and eight candidates out of around 200 applicants proceed through to the live rounds in Windsor, UK. The Semi-finals see each competitor perform a 45-minute public recital. Three go through to the Final round, where they compete by playing a 25-minute public recital in front of an audience in the Waterloo Chamber of the Windsor Castle. Violin

Timothy Ridout
Timothy Ridout (born 1995) is a British violist and 1st Prizewinner of the prestigious Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition. Biography Ridout studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Martin Outram and graduated in 2016 with the Queen's Commendation for Excellence. Ridout completed his master's at the Kronberg Academy with Nobuko Imai in 2019. In 2016 Ridout won 1st Prize in the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition. He was the first British violist to win the first prize since the competition was established in 1980. He made his debut recital at the Wigmore Hall in London in March 2017 with Anthony Hewitt (piano), and also that year released his debut album ' Vieuxtemps – Complete Works for Viola' with Champs Hill Records. Thomas Demenga
Thomas Demenga (born 12 June 1954) is a Swiss composer and cellist. Life and career Born in Bern, Demenga studied with Walter Grimmer, Antonio Janigro, Leonard Rose and Mstislav Rostropovich and at the Juilliard School in New York, among others. He gives concerts as a chamber musician and soloist at all important festivals and music centres of the world. Since 1980, Demenga has been leading a training and soloist class at the Hochschule für Musik. From August 2001, Demenga was artistic director of the Davos Festival ''young artists in concert'', which he directed for the last time in 2006. Erich Gruenberg
Erich Gruenberg (12 October 19247 August 2020) was an Austrian-born British violinist and teacher. Following studies in Israel, he was a principal violinist of major orchestras, including the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He was an international soloist, playing the first performance of Britten's Violin Concerto in Moscow. As a chamber musician, he was leader of the London String Quartet and recorded all Beethoven violin sonatas with pianist David Wilde. He was the lead violinist for The Beatles' album, '' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band''. Gruenberg taught at the Royal Academy of Music until age 95, influencing generations of violinists. Gustav Rivinius
Gustav Rivinius (born in 1965 in Saarland) is a German cellist and professor for cello at the Hochschule für Musik Saar. Life Rivinius began his cello studies at the age of six with Hermann Dirr in Munich. Later he studied in Saarbrücken for several years with Ulrich Voss and Claus Kanngiesser, then with David Geringas in Lübeck, with Zara Nelsova at the Juilliard School in New York and finally with Heinrich Schiff in Basel. There he completed his studies with the soloist diploma. Rivinius won numerous national and international competitions. Chen Jiafeng (born April 13, 1987) () is a Chinese violinist. He was the first prize winner in the 2003 International Competition for Young Violinists K. Lipinski and H. Wieniawski and the second prize winner in the 2008 International Yehudi Menuhin Violin Competition, and the second prize of the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition in Helsinki. Career Born in Shanghai, Chen started learning violin at the age of three, while his teacher Zhang Shixiang wrote a violin textbook based on the experience of tutoring him.
