Windle (sidecar)
Windle was an English sidecar manufacturer that built road racing sidecars. The company was founded by Terry Windle and provided both monocoque Formula 1 as well as tubular Formula 2 chassis for use from club level racing up to and including World Championship level. With five world championship wins between 1977 with George O'Dell and 2002 with Steve Abbott, Terry decided to retire in 2009. The name was revived by D&D Sidecars but they only manufacture tubular Formula 2 sidecars. Windle, St Helens
Windle is a suburb of St Helens, civil parish and ward of the metropolitan borough of the same name. The population of Windle was given as 10,690 at the 2011 Census. It was one of the original four townships alongside Eccleston, Parr and Sutton formed that merged to become St Helens. The name derives from Windy Hill. The Section dedicated to Windle. History Windhull, 1201, (and common; Wyndhill, 1320; Wyndhyll, Wyndill, Wyndell, Wyndle, 16th century) a Manor originally fell under the fee of the Warrington Barons until at least 1585. The first Baron is listed as Pain de Vilers. Vilers was disenfranchised by William de Ferrers the Earl of Derby to the benefit of William le Boteler from Warrington. Bertram Windle
Sir Bertram Coghill Alan Windle, (8 May 1858 – 14 February 1929) was a British anatomist, administrator, archaeologist, scientist, educationalist and writer. Biography He was born at Mayfield Vicarage, in Staffordshire, where his father, the Reverend Samuel Allen Windle, a Church of England clergyman, was vicar. He attended Trinity College, where he graduated B.A. in 1879. He also served as Librarian of the University Philosophical Society in the 1877–78 session. In 1891 he was appointed dean of the medical faculty of Queen's College, Birmingham. Queen's College's medical faculty became the medical faculty of Mason Science College in the early 1890s, and then became the medical faculty of the University of Birmingham in 1900. Bob Windle
Robert George Windle (born 7 November 1944) is an Australian freestyle swimmer of the 1960s, who won four Olympic medals, including an individual gold medal. Windle won the 1500 m freestyle and took bronze in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and silver and bronze in the 4 × 200 m and 4 × 100 m freestyle relays respectively at the 1968 Summer Olympics. Known for his versatility, he is the only male swimmer to represent Australia at the Olympics in all freestyle distances from 100 m to 1500 m. During his career, Windle set six world records and won six Commonwealth Games gold medals. He won 19 Australian championships in all distances from 220 yd to 1650 yd. Janice Woods Windle
Janice Woods Windle (born 1938) is an author of historical novels. She grew up in Seguin, Texas and lives in El Paso, Texas with her husband and family. Biography Windle was raised in Seguin, Texas. Both of her parents were "avid historians," who brought Windle with them when they conducted research in public libraries. She attended the University of Texas in Austin where she was a member of Alpha Phi women's fraternity, before taking her degree from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Jordan Pisey Windle is a Cambodian-born American Olympic diver. He is the first diver of Cambodian descent to compete in the Olympics. Early life Jordan was born in Sihanoukville, Cambodia on November 13, 1998.
