Windfall (1955 Film)
''Windfall'', also released as ''Dangerous Money'', is a 1955 British comedy film directed by Henry Cass and starring Lionel Jeffries, Jack Watling and Gordon Jackson. It was written by John Gilling. It is a remake of the 1935 film of the same title. Premise The lives of shop assistant Arthur Lee and his family are transformed when he finds £2,000 on top of a bus. Arthur's daughter's dodgy boy friend steals the money, but lands in trouble when it's discovered to be counterfeit. Things turn out well for Arthur when the resulting publicity gives a boost to his business. Henry Cass
Henry Cass (24 June 1903 – 15 March 1989) was a British director, particularly prolific in film in the horror and comedy genres. Previously an actor, he was also a prolific stage director of classical theatre at the Old Vic in the 1930s. In 1923, Lee DeForest filmed Cass for a short film ''Henry Cass Demonstration Film'' made in DeForest's Phonofilm sound-on-film process. The film was previewed at the Engineers Society of New York on 12 April 1923, and premiered at the Rivoli Theatre in New York on 15 April 1923 with 17 other short Phonofilms. Avice Landone
Avice Landone (1 September 191012 June 1976) was an English actress who appeared in British television and film. She was born in Quetta, British India, and made her screen debut in the 1948 film '' My Brother Jonathon''. From 1961 she co-starred with Peggy Mount in the ITV sitcom '' Winning Widows''. Between 1970 and 1972 she played Margaret Brown in the television series '' Man at the Top''. She was married to the actor Bruno Barnabe (1905–1998). She retired from acting in 1972 and died in 1976, aged 65, from undisclosed causes. Cyril Chamberlain (8 March 1909 – 5 December 1974) was an English film and television actor. He appeared in a number of the early ''Carry On'', ''Doctor'' and ''St. Trinian's'' films. Chamberlain was born on 8 March 1909 in London and died in Builth Wells in Wales on 5 December 1974 aged 65. He spent his final five years in retirement restoring antique furniture. He was married to actress Lisa Lee and they had one child. He appeared in 139 films between 1938 and 1966. Patricia Molly Owens (January 17, 1925 – August 31, 2000) was a Canadian-born American actress, working in Hollywood. She appeared in about 40 films and 10 television episodes in a career lasting from 1943 to 1968. Early work Owens moved to England in 1933 with her parents (her Welsh father Arthur Owens was later to become an MI5 double agent), and 10 years later, at age 18, she made her motion-picture debut in the musical comedy ''Miss London Ltd''. The following year, she had a small role in Harold French's social satire ''English Without Tears''. Her career continued in this manner for a few years, Owens getting ever-larger roles in movies. Brian Worth (30 July 1914 – 25 August 1978) was an English actor, known for '' Scrooge'' (1951), ''The Man in the White Suit'' (1951) and ''An Inspector Calls'' (1954). He died on 25 August 1978 aged 64. Educated in Britain and America, he learnt the technical side of commercial advertising films before deciding to turn to acting. During the Second World War he served in the armed forces (1941–1946) and between 1946 and 1947 he acted on stage.
