Wimille
Wimille is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography Wimille is a farming and light industrial town situated some north of Boulogne, at the junction of the D233 and the D237 roads, on the banks of the river Wimereux. The river Slack forms the northern boundary of the commune. Junction 33 of the A16 autoroute with the D242 is within the commune's territory. Wimille-Wimereux station has rail connections to Calais and Boulogne-sur-Mer. Population The inhabitants are called ''Wimillois''. The Column of the Grande Armée ( French - ''Colonne de la grande Armée'' or ''Colonne Napoléone'') is a 53 metre high Corinthian order triumphal column (modelled on Trajan's Column and other triumphal columns in Rome) on the Rue Napoleon in Wimille, near Boulogne-sur-Mer, France. History To 1815 The column was intended to commemorate a successful invasion of England (an invasion that never occurred), but it now commemorates the first distribution of the Imperial Légion d'honneur at the "camp de Boulogne", by Napoleon to the soldiers of the Army of England. A16 Autoroute
The A16 Autoroutes of France, autoroute – also known as ''L'Européenne'' and forming between Abbeville and Dunkirk a part of the larger ''Autoroute des estuaires'' – is a motorway in northern France. The motorway, which has a total length of , starts at a junction with the N104 Francilienne near Attainville in Île-de-France and ends at the Belgium, Belgian frontier near Bray-Dunes, serving en route Beauvais, Amiens, Abbeville, Boulogne-sur-Mer, Calais and Dunkirk in Hauts-de-France. Cecil Chesterton
Cecil Edward Chesterton (12 November 1879 – 6 December 1918) was an English journalist and political commentator, known particularly for his role as editor of '' The New Witness'' from 1912 to 1916, and in relation to its coverage of the Marconi scandal. Life He was the younger brother of G. K. Chesterton and second cousin of A. K. Chesterton, and a close associate of Hilaire Belloc. While the ideas of distributism came from all three, and Arthur Penty, he was the most ideological and combative by temperament. His death, according to his widow, removed the theorist of the movement. He was born in Kensington, London, and educated at St Paul's School, then worked for a small publisher for a time. He then qualified as surveyor and estate agent, with a view to entering his father's business, which is still flourishing today.
