Wilton Ivie
Vaine Wilton Ivie (March 28, 1907 – August 8, 1969) was an American arachnologist, who described hundreds of new species and many new genera of spiders, both under his own name and in collaboration with Ralph Vary Chamberlin. He was employed by the American Museum of Natural History in New York. He also was a supporter of the Technocracy movement. Biography Wilton Ivie was born in Eureka, Utah on March 28, 1907. He attended the University of Utah earning a BSc in 1930 and an MSc in 1932, working under Ralph V. Chamberlin. He remained at Utah as an instructor in zoology from 1932 to 1947, during which time he continued to work on spiders. For the last nine years of his life he worked at the American Museum of Natural History. He died as a result of an auto accident in Kansas on 8 August 1969, during an expedition for the American Museum of Natural History. Howard Scott
Howard Scott (April 1, 1890 – January 1, 1970) was an American engineer and founder of the Technocracy movement. He formed the Technical Alliance and Technocracy Incorporated. Early life Little is known about Scott's background or his early life and he has been described as a "mysterious young man". He was born in Virginia in 1890 and was of Scottish-Irish descent. He claimed to have been educated in Europe, but his training did not include any formal higher education. In 1918, shortly before the end of WWI, Scott appeared in New York City. Scott worked in various construction camps, where he picked up on-the-job engineering experience, and in 1918 was working in a cement pouring gang at Muscle Shoals. Following this, Scott established himself in Greenwich Village as "a kind of Bohemian engineer". Aphonopelma Radinum
''Aphonopelma'' is a genus of tarantulas native to the Americas. It includes nearly all the North American tarantula species north of Mexico and a considerable percentage of the tarantula species that range into Central America. Most are fairly large tarantulas with leg spans of 6 in (16 cm) or more. Like most New World tarantulas, all species of ''Aphonopelma'' have urticating hairs. Despite their fearsome appearance, these tarantulas are not harmful to humans and some species are popular in the pet trade. With about 90 species described so far, ''Aphonopelma'' comprises about 10% of the total number of described tarantula species. However, their taxonomy is poorly understood and species are difficult to tell apart, especially those that are brown or black without other pattern. ''Brachypelma'' is a genus of spiders in the family Theraphosidae (tarantulas). They may have bodies up to long with legs of similar or greater lengths. Some species have brightly colored legs, with red or orange marks and rings. The taxonomy of the genus and its species has been the subject of considerable debate. In 2020, the genus was split, with a group of species (the "red rump" tarantulas) being moved to a new genus, '' Tliltocatl''. As now circumscribed, the genus ''Brachypelma'' is found only in Mexico. ''Aphonopelma moderatum'' is a species of spider in the family Theraphosidae, found in United States, in the state of Texas.
