Wilt (band)
Wilt were an alternative rock band founded in Kilkenny, Ireland in 1998. Formed by ex-Kerbdog members Cormac Battle on vocals/guitar and Darragh Butler on drums, the line-up was completed with their friend Mick Murphy on bass. Wilt played their first gig at The Funnel in Dublin on 26 March 1998. Their debut album, ''Bastinado'', was released in July 2000. Wexford native Derren Dempsey joined on guitar/backing vocals as a live touring member in 2002 to promote their second album, ''My Medicine''. Although ''Rock Sound'' magazine tipped them as being Ireland's version of Hüsker Dü and Weezer, Wilt broke up in 2003. Cormac Battle
Cormac Battle (born 11 July 1972) is an Irish musician and radio presenter/producer. He is the vocalist and lead guitarist for the bands Kerbdog, Wilt, Jonny's Boys, and On the turn. He is also the current presenter of RTÉ 2fm's alternative music programme, ''The Battle Axe''. Early life Battle was brought up in Kilkenny, Ireland, having moved from Bromley, UK at an early age. Career Music In 1991 Battle, along with school friends Darragh Butler (drums), Colin Fennelly (bass) and Billy Dalton (guitar) came together to formed a band called ''Rollercoaster'' before changing the name permanently to Kerbdog. Following two demo cassettes recorded in Dublin and a short support slot to Therapy? in 1992, the band was signed to Vertigo Records in London. Ultra Vivid Scene was an American alternative rock band, started by Kurt Ralske. Background Former Nothing But Happiness and Crash guitarist Ralske started Ultra Vivid Scene in 1987, was signed to 4AD Records in 1988, and released his first UVS EP, ''She Screamed'', in 1988. The debut album '' Ultra Vivid Scene'' released October 1988, was written, produced and performed entirely by Ralske, whose influences include The Velvet Underground and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
