Wilson Onsare
Wilson Onsare Ombui (born 15 June 1976) is a Kenyan former long-distance runner who competed in half marathon and marathon races. His time of 2:06:47 hours at the 2003 Paris Marathon made his fastest ever debut run at the time, but he never bettered the mark. His other marathon highlights included a runner-up performance at the 2005 Boston Marathon and a third-place finish at the Lake Biwa Marathon in Japan. His best time for the half marathon was 1:00:52 hours, and he had victories over that distance at the Paris Half Marathon, America's Finest City Half Marathon, and Reims Half Marathon. Career Wilson began his major race career in 2000 with a series of half marathons in France. He was third at Le Lion Half Marathon, improved to second place at the Auray-Vannes Half Marathon, then claimed his first victories over the distance at the Reims Half Marathon and Saint Pol- Morlaix Half Marathon. Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely Aerobic exercise, aerobic in nature and requires endurance, stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. On the other side, anaerobic respiration occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen, and this is common towards the final stretch of races when there is a drive to speed up to a greater intensity. Overall, both types of respiration are used by endurance runners quite often, but are very different from each other. Tiberias Marathon
The Tiberias Marathon is an annual marathon road race held along the Sea of Galilee in Israel. At approximately 200 meters below sea level, this is the lowest course in the world. The competition was first held in 1977, and also hosts the annual Israeli marathon national championship. It was Israel's first international marathon event. 2005 World Championships In Athletics
The 10th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), were held in the Olympic Stadium, Helsinki, Finland (6 August 2005 – 14 August 2005), the site of the first IAAF World Championships in 1983. One theme of the 2005 championships was paralympic events, some of which were included as exhibition events. Much of the event was played in extremely heavy rainfall. Hailu Negussie (born April 16, 1978) is a marathon runner who was the winner of the 109th Boston Marathon in 2005. He finished with a time of 2:11:45 and became the first Ethiopian to win the Boston Marathon since Abebe Mekonnen won the race in 1989. His personal best for the marathon is 2:08:16. Negussie tried to defend his Boston title in 2006. However, he dropped out of the race just past the halfway point. Kenyan Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot broke the course record that year. Negussie has also won the Hofu Marathon in 2002 (with a personal best time of 2:08:16) and the Xiamen Marathon (with a time of 2:09:03) in 2003.
