Wilson Omwoyo
Wilson Omwoyo (born 25 November 1965) is a retired Kenyan long-distance runner. He competed for his country at the 1994 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, where he finished 17th overall. Although he did not have success internationally with Kenya, he won numerous competitions on the European circuit during his career. In cross country running, he won the 1990 Cross Internacional Valle de Llodio and in 1992 topped the podium at the Cross de l'Acier and Cross Memorial Juan Muguerza races. Other victories included the Cross du Figaro in Paris in 1993 and the Tilburg Warandeloop in 1995. In addition to his cross country running, he won top level road running competitions as well. He won the Foulée Suresnoise twice consecutively in 1993/1994. At the Greifenseelauf half marathon in Uster he set a course record of 1:01:53 hours in 1994 and returned the following year to win for a second time. The Greifenseelauf is an annual road running event in the Swiss Canton of Zurich, that was established in 1980 and takes place in the middle of September. Les Abymes () is the most populous commune in the French overseas region and department of Guadeloupe, in the Lesser Antilles. It is located on the west side of the island of Grande-Terre, and is part of the largest metropolitan area of Guadeloupe, which also covers Pointe-à-Pitre. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Abymiens'' or ''Abymiennes''. 20 Km Of Brussels
The 20 km of Brussels (french: 20 km de Bruxelles, nl, 20 km door Brussel) is a 20.1 km running race that has been held each year in Brussels since 1980, usually in May. It used to have a maximum number of 25,000 entries, which were normally sold out quite quickly after places go on sale in March, but in 2010 a staggered start-time approach led to an increased maximum number of entries of 40,000. The race is a major event in Brussels, with a large turnout of supporters. The course is quite challenging, particularly due to the gentle, long overall climb and several tunnels between kilometer three and seven as well as the long and steep climb on Avenue de Tervueren towards the end of the race. Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely Aerobic exercise, aerobic in nature and requires endurance, stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. On the other side, anaerobic respiration occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen, and this is common towards the final stretch of races when there is a drive to speed up to a greater intensity.
