English Language
English is a West Germanic language of the Indo-European language family, with its earliest forms spoken by the inhabitants of early medieval England. Brian Wilshire (born 30 March 1944 in Strathfield, Sydney, Australia) is a retired radio broadcaster for 2GB Sydney. He hosted the 'Australia overnight' programme (12:00am – 3.30 am) up until 11 December 2015The signature of the show was the tune, "Hanky Panky", by Pete Fountain. Brian Wilshire began his radio career in November 1969 at 2NZ in Inverell He won almost every survey at 2GB for 36 years. Bruce Wilshire
Bruce W. Wilshire (February 8, 1932 – January 1, 2013) was an American philosopher who taught in the philosophy department at Rutgers University, from which he retired as Professor Emeritus in 2009. Beginning as a specialist in William James, he became known for his work on philosophy and theater, his criticisms of analytic philosophy, and his interest in Native American philosophy. Biography Wilshire's father, Gilbert Wilshire, piqued his interest in science and astronomy at an early age, so that he began reflecting on the "big questions" (creation, the nature of the universe, and related issues). David Wilshire
David Wilshire (born 16 September 1943) is a British former politician. A member of the Conservative Party, he was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Spelthorne in Surrey from 1987 to 2010. Wilshire was considered to be to the right of the party's mainstream. Wilshire introduced Section 28 legislation in 1988. In 2009 he was implicated in the United Kingdom parliamentary expenses scandal. On 14 October 2009 Wilshire admitted using parliamentary expenses to pay £105,000 over three years to Moorlands Research Services, a company he set up and owned with his partner Ann Palmer to run his office. While the relevant authorities had approved this, the following day, after a meeting with the Conservative Chief Whip, he announced that he would not be standing as a candidate at the next general election. Henry Austin Wilshire
Henry Austin Wilshire (HA Wilshire) was an architect and prominent member of Sydney society in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was an active and innovative architect, and a contributor to the community through interests in town planning and transport issues. Early and personal life Wilshire was born in Potts Point (Sydney) on 8 September 1860, into one of Sydney's oldest and best-connected families. He was the youngest child of James Robert Wilshire MLC, Sydney's second elected mayor, who had died the week before Henry was born. His mother, Sarah Wilshire, lived until 1912, a well-regarded, active member of the community. The family moved to Burwood around 1880. In 1888 Wilshire married Hephzibah Maude Stewart, and they had one daughter, Lena, born in 1889. Henry Gaylord Wilshire (June 7, 1861 – September 7, 1927), known to his contemporaries by his middle name of "Gaylord", was an American land developer, publisher, and outspoken socialist. He is the namesake of Los Angeles' Wilshire Boulevard. Biography Early years Henry Gaylord Wilshire was born June 7, 1861, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He moved to Los Angeles, California in 1884. In 1895 he began developing stretching westward from Westlake Park for an elite residential subdivision. He donated a strip of land to the city of Los Angeles for a boulevard through what was then a barley field, on the conditions that it would be named for him and that railroad lines and commercial or industrial trucking would be banned. In 1900, Wilshire was arrested for speaking in a public park in Los Angeles. A judge dismissed the charges, but the incident caused Wilshire to leave Los Angeles for New York. Jack Andrew Garry Wilshere (born 1 January 1992) is an English football coach and former professional player who played as a midfielder. He is the current head coach of the Arsenal U18s. Wilshere came up through Arsenal's youth academy and impressed from an early age. He made his first-team debut in 2008, becoming Arsenal's youngest ever league debutant at the age of 16 years, 256 days. Mary Wilshire (born 1953) is an American comics artist best known for her work on ''Red Sonja'' and '' Firestar'' for Marvel Comics. Early life Mary Wilshire graduated from the Pratt Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting. Career Mary Wilshire began her career in the comics industry drawing underground comix. Her earliest credited work was "Those Beautiful Babes in their Bain de Soleil", a four-page story in ''Wet Satin'' #2 (April 1978) published by Last Gasp. In 1980, she was hired by editor Larry Hama to work on '' Crazy Magazine'' for Marvel Comics. She became the artist of the ''Red Sonja'' series in 1983 and drew the comics adaptation of the character's 1985 film. Wilshire and writer Louise Simonson co-created Alistair Smythe, an enemy of Spider-Man, in ''The Amazing Spider-Man Annual'' #19 (1985).
