Andrew Wilmot (born 4 September 1980) is a British racing driver. In 2013 British Touring Car Championship season, 2013, Wilmot competed in the British Touring Car Championship for the first time at Rockingham, driving for Tony Gilham Racing, Team HARD in a Volkswagen CC NGTC. He returned to the championship in 2021 British Touring Car Championship, 2021, driving for Excelr8 Motorsport. Racing career Wilmot began his career in the Ford Fiesta Championship in 2010. He switched to the Volkswagen Racing Cup GB for 2012, he finished fourteenth overall, with 186 points,. Sir Henry Wilmot, 5th Baronet
Colonel Sir Henry Wilmot, 5th Baronet (3 February 1831 – 7 April 1901) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He was also a Conservative Party politician. Early life Wilmot was born in Chaddesden, near Derby the son of Sir Henry Wilmot (4th Baronet) and his wife Maria Mundy daughter of Edmund Mundy of Shipley Hall. He was educated at Rugby School. Military career Wilmot purchased a commission as an Ensign in the 43rd (Monmouthshire) Regiment of Foot. Two years later he purchased a Lieutenancy and in 1855 purchased a Captaincy in the same regiment. Later in 1855 he transferred to the Rifle Brigade, still as a Captain. Katherine Wilmot
Katherine (or Catherine) Wilmot (c.1773 – 28 March 1824) was an Irish traveller and diarist. She made a Grand Tour from 1801 to 1803 and documented her experiences through letters, including encounters with notable figures like Napoleon Bonaparte. She later traveled to Russia to join her sister Martha Wilmot and lived there from 1805 to 1807. She later moved to France and passed away in Paris in 1824. Her writings, letters, and diaries provide insight on the Napoleonic era, on the Russian society and on travel in the 19th century. Her works also include her sister's transcript of the memoirs of Princess Dashkova. Life Catherine Wilmot was born in Drogheda, County Louth, to Edward and Martha Wilmot (née Moore). Jorge Wilmot (1928 – January 12, 2012) was one of the most distinguished artisans of Mexico, and has been credited with the introduction of stoneware and other high fire techniques to the country. His work is also known for its more austere, Oriental-inspired designs blended with Mexican motifs. His work has been widely sold and exhibited both in Mexico and abroad and he has trained and influenced generations of ceramicists at the school he established in Tonalá, Jalisco. John McNeil Wilmot
John McNeil Wilmot (May 3, 1775 – September 7, 1847) was a businessman, judge and political figure in New Brunswick. He represented St. John County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1820 to 1827, and from 1835 to 1842. He was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, the son of Major Lemuel Wilmot, commander of a company of the Loyal American Regiment, and Elizabeth Street, a sister of Samuel Street. At age 8, John McNeil Wilmot came to New Brunswick in 1783 with his family. He entered the retail business in Fredericton, later moving to Saint John. In 1808, he married Susannah Harriet Wiggins. Wilmot constructed his own wharf in Saint John in 1813. In 1819, he established a company involved in the timber trade. Sir John Eardley Wilmot PC SL (16 August 17095 February 1792), was an English judge, Chief Justice of the Common Pleas from 1766 to 1771. Family and early life Wilmot was the second son of Robert Wilmot (1669–1738), of Osmaston Hall, near Derby, and his wife Ursula, who was the daughter of Sir Samuel Marow, Bt, of Berkswell, Warwickshire. His paternal grandfather was Sir Nicholas Wilmot (1611–1682), a serjeant-at-law knighted in 1674. John Charles Wilmot, 1st Baron Wilmot of Selmeston PC (2 April 1893 – 22 July 1964) was a British Labour Party politician. He served under Clement Attlee as Minister of Aircraft Production from 1945 to 1946 and as Minister of Supply from 1945 to 1947. John Eardley Wilmot (1748 – 23 June 1815) was a British lawyer and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1776 to 1796. Early life The younger son of Sir John Eardley Wilmot, Chief Justice of the Common Pleas, Wilmot was born at Derby in 1748, and was educated at Westminster School and Oxford, where he went on to become a fellow of All Souls. He studied for the church under Dr William Warburton, but afterwards decided to pursue the law instead and was called to the Bar, which his father called "quitting a bed of roses for a crown o' thorns." John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester (1 April 1647 – 26 July 1680) was an English poet and courtier of King Charles II's Restoration court. The Restoration reacted against the "spiritual authoritarianism" of the Puritan era. Rochester embodied this new era, and he became as well known for his rakish lifestyle as for his poetry, although the two were often interlinked. He died as a result of venereal disease at the age of 33. Rochester was described by his contemporary Andrew Marvell as "the best English satirist," and he is generally considered to be the most considerable poet and the most learned among the Restoration wits. His poetry was widely censored during the Victorian era, but enjoyed a revival from the 1920s onwards, with reappraisals from noted literary figures such as Graham Greene and Ezra Pound.
