Wilmer Cruz
Wilmer Enrique Cruz Paredes (born 18 December 1965) is a retired Honduran football player. He is currently the manager of Victoria. Club career Nicknamed ''Pájaro'' (Bird) and ''Supermán'', Cruz played 129 league matches for Real C.D. España and also had spells with Platense F.C., F.C. Motagua and Deportes Savio as well as short stints with C.D.S. Vida, Independiente Villela and C.D. Victoria. He played his final league game in January 2001 for Savio against Olimpia. In September 1999, he was said to be interested to play in Costa Rica but would have to withdraw his candidacy to become mayor of his hometown, Santa Cruz de Yojoa. International career Cruz made his debut for Honduras in a May 1991 UNCAF Nations Cup match against Panama and has earned a total of 63 caps, scoring no goals. The Copa Centroamericana (, Spanish for "Central American Cup") was the main association football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of the ''Unión Centroamericana de Fútbol'' (UNCAF), the sport's Central American governing body. Held every two years since 1991, in the years before and after the FIFA World Cup tournaments, it was originally called the UNCAF Nations Cup (), changing to the latter name in 2011. The Honduran Cup was the top knock-out Association football, football tournament in Honduras. The first tournament was played in 1968 Honduran Cup, 1968, four years later the second tournament took the name ''Copa Presidente'' ( en, President's Cup) in honor of Dr. Ramón Ernesto Cruz Uclés, Ramón Cruz; later, General Oswaldo López Arellano, Oswaldo López changed the name and called it ''Copa Jefe de Estado'' ( en, Head of State Cup). Gilberto Leonel Machado García (born 23 March 1962) is a retired Honduran footballer who played as a midfielder for Marathón, Olimpia, and Deportes Progreseño in Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras. He is the current manager of Honduran second division side Sula de La Lima. Club career Born in San Pedro Sula, Machado played club football in Honduras. He made his debut for Marathón on 29 July 1979 against Atlético Portuario and scored his first goal on 22 February 1981 against Real España. Machado was the Honduran league's top goal-scorer in 1987, scoring 19 goals for Marathon. He is also Marathon's all-time leading goal-scorer, scoring 78 goals from 1979 to 1991. In 1991, Machado transferred to Olimpia for one season scoring 4 goals, and then finished his career with Deportes Progreseño. 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup
The 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the fifth edition of the Gold Cup, the soccer championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF), and the 15th overall CONCACAF tournament. It was held in Los Angeles, Miami, and San Diego in the United States. The format of the tournament changed from 1998; it was expanded to twelve teams, split into four groups of three. The top two teams in each group would advance to the quarter-finals. Peru and Colombia were invited from CONMEBOL, and the Republic of Korea were invited from AFC.
