Willy Van Bladel
Wilhelmus Christiaan Franciscus "Willy" van Bladel (born 26 March 1960 in Eindhoven) is a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his country at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. With Huub Lambriex as crew, Van Bladel took the 11th place in the Tornado. At the 1988 Olympics in Pusan Van Bladel made his second appearance in the Olympic regattas with his brother Cees van Bladel as crew. They took 9th place. Sailing career After sailing Vaurien and 470 with his brother Cees van Bladel Van Bladel then moved into the Tornado. Professional life Van Bladel studied BBA, Business Administration at the Nyenrode University (1978–1981). He nowadays is owner of the company ''Hoblad b.v.''. The Vaurien is a dinghy designed by Jean-Jacques Herbulot in 1951, and presented in the Boat show in Paris in 1952. It was meant as a reasonable alternative for a boat with a crew of two, as much for its low cost, as for its simplicity to sail. The first units, sold in the mentioned Boat show, had a price equivalent to two bicycles of the time. It is a light, but robust, boat that soon found its place among beginners, especially in Europe and Africa. Evi Van Acker
Evi Van Acker (born 23 September 1985) is a Belgian professional sailor. She has a Bachelor in Chemistry and is currently studying for a Master in bio-engineering. Career Van Acker started sailing at age 7 in an Optimist dinghy and soon started on the youth program of the Royal Belgian Sailing Club. In 1998 she became European champion in the Optimist class. In 2000, she transferred to the Europe class and placed 17th in the 2003 World Championship. Having transferred to the Laser Radial, she became European champion in 2006, 2007 and 2011 and became second in the 2011 World Championship. She went on to compete in the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition finishing 8th in the Women's Singlehanded Class the Laser Radial.
