Willowville, Ohio
Willowville is an unincorporated community in Clermont County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. History As Donnel's Trace was laid out in 1797, a glen that was naturally pathed out ran through several communities. The borders started at School House Road, where one of the areas oldest schools existed, and ran for about a mile to the next community of Olive Branch. Willowville's neighbor to the west, Glen Este, had the closest post office; however, the much larger town of Batavia, five miles to the east, had a full-service post office as well. Clermont County, popularly called Clermont ( ), is a county in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 208,601. Ordinanced in 1800 as part of the Virginia Military District, Clermont is Ohio's eighth oldest county, the furthest county west in Appalachian Ohio, and the eleventh oldest county of the former Northwest Territory. Clermont County is part of the Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county is named from the French "clear hills or mountain." Its county seat is Batavia, while its largest city is Milford. Glen Este, Ohio
Glen Este is an unincorporated area of Union Township, in Clermont County, Ohio, United States. History Glen Este, Ohio is named for early resident David K. Este, who owned a farm near the intersection of Glen Este-Withamsville Road and the railroad tracks, now State Route 32. He was an officer of the Cincinnati, Georgetown and Portsmouth Railroad and had a combination station and post office established on his land. The main road in town ran through the area of Donnell's Trace now old State Route 74, passing through a glen, hence the name. The Glen Este post office was established in July 1878 with an insignificant sign on the door that read: "The Eastgate to Cincinnati". One hundred years later, the nickname ''Eastgate'' came to be a regional name for the area around Glen Este. The once thriving downtown district on the Cincinnati Batavia Pike, Old State Route 74 has since shifted somewhat to the Eastgate Shopping district near Interstate 275. Batavia, Ohio
Batavia ( ) is a village in Clermont County, Ohio, United States, and its county seat. The population was 1,972 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. History Batavia was surveyed on May 28, 1788, by Captain Francis Minnis, John O'Bannon, Nicholas Keller, Archelus Price, and John Ormsley. Virginian Ezekiel Dimmitt became the area's first settler in the fall of 1797. George Ely purchased the Minnis survey in 1807 and platted the town on October 24, 1814, possibly naming it after Batavia, New York. The Clermont County seat moved from New Richmond, Ohio, New Richmond to Batavia on February 24, 1824. Batavia finally incorporated as a village on February 10, 1842.
