Willowdale Estates, Alberta
Strathcona County is a specialized municipality in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region within Alberta, Canada between Edmonton and Elk Island National Park. It forms part of Census Division No. 11. Strathcona County is both urban and rural in nature. Approximately of its population lives in Sherwood Park, which is an urban service area east of Edmonton remains an unincorporated hamlet. Willowdale Airfield
Willowdale Airfield was located in North York, Toronto, Ontario, Canada near Finch Avenue and Senlac in the Willowdale neighbourhood. Like many of the small aerodromes in Toronto, it disappeared before World War II. The airfield was built on farmland once owned by local settler Joseph Shepard, who owned over 200 acres of land. Willowdale Estate was constructed in 1902 as the summer home of wealthy Boston lawyer Bradley Palmer, Willowdale is an Arts and Crafts, Jacobean Revival mansion in Topsfield, Massachusetts. Palmer donated the mansion and the land around it to the State of Massachusetts between 1937 and 1944. While the surrounding area has become Bradley Palmer State Park, the mansion has been a civil defense training academy and is currently leased to the Forsythe-Fandetti family as part of the Department of Conservation and Recreation, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation's Historic Curatorship Program. Willowdale, also known as Smith Place, Gunther Farm, and Willow Dale, is a historic home located at Painter, Accomack County, Virginia. It is a two-story, five-bay, gambrel roofed, frame dwelling with brick ends. There is a two-bay, single story extension that provides service from a -story kitchen with a large brick cooking fireplace at the south end. The wing dates to the early-19th century. The main block is an expansion of a 17th-century patent house of stories that now forms the parlor at the north end of the main block. The house is representative of the vernacular "big house, little house, colonnade, kitchen" style that was common in colonial homes on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Also on the property are the contributing ruins of a barn. Willowdale is one of the few remaining examples of the dwelling of an early colonial settler, landowner and farmer.
