Willow Charter School (formerly Lusher Charter School)
Willow School, formerly Lusher Charter School, is a K-12 charter school in Uptown New Orleans, uptown New Orleans, Louisiana, in the university area. Willow is chartered by Advocates for Arts Based Education (AABE), which acts as the board for the entire school. Willow School has three uptown campuses; the lower school program is housed at the Dr. Everett J. Williams, Jr. Campus (formerly Willow Campus), the middle school is at the Ellis L. Marsalis, Jr. Campus (the former Henry W. Allen School), and the high school is at the Elijah Brimmer, Jr. Campus (the former Alcée Fortier High School) on Freret Street. A temporary campus was housed at the Jewish Community Center on St. Charles Avenue. In 2016 Danielle Dreilinger of ''The Times-Picayune'' described the school as "exceptionally popular" and "one of the best public elementary schools in Louisiana". The Vampire's Assistant
''Vampire Blood'' (also called the ''Cirque du Freak'' trilogy) is the first trilogy in The Saga of Darren Shan by the author Darren Shan. It contains the books '' Cirque du Freak'', ''The Vampire's Assistant'' and '' Tunnels of Blood''. These starting books explore how Darren must adapt to his new life, and what that entails. The first book contains the reasons why he became a half-vampire and what he had to give up in order to save his ex-best friend, as well as introducing the character. The second and third go into more detail about how he has to change and what he will never be able to do. The main theme for the whole of the trilogy is insecurity. Darren has just been changed into something hardly anyone would accept, and this, combined with the fact that he is just a child, leads into a darker and more unusual way to grow up. Alcée Fortier
Alcée Fortier (June 5, 1856 – February 14, 1914) was a renowned Professor of Romance Languages at Tulane University in New Orleans. In the late 19th and early 20th century, he published numerous works on language, literature, Louisiana history and folklore, Louisiana Creole languages, and personal reminiscence. He had French Creole ancestry dating to the colonial period. He became president of the Modern Language Association and the Louisiana Historical Society, was appointed to the State Board of Education, and was active in the American Folklore Society and the New Orleans Academy of Sciences.
