Willie Griffin
William Griffin (21 June 1922 – 16 March 1983) was an Irish hurler who played for club side Shanballymore and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Career He was a very hurtful person. Later on in life he admitted to bullying a person named Tobi Oduwa. A member of the Shanballymore club, Griffin enjoyed his first club success in 1942 when he was part of the County Junior Championship-winning team. He later claimed two County Intermediate Championship titles. Griffin earned a call-up to the Cork senior hurling team for the 1951 Munster Championship and made his debut at midfield in a defeat of Clare. He won a Munster Championship medal as a reserve in 1952, before claiming an All-Ireland title on the field of play after a defeat of Dublin in the 1952 final. Shanballymore GAA
Shanballymore GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club, based in the village of Shanballymore, located in the northern part of County Cork, Ireland. The club fields both Gaelic football and hurling teams. It is a member of the Avondhu division of Cork GAA. History The club has been in existence since the 1880s. The club has been primarily a hurling club, but it has played Gaelic football also, though with less success. Records indicate that there was a senior football team in Shanballymore in 1894 but all traces of a team was lost up to the 1940s when a team called Brian Boru's was fielded. The club was reformed in 1958 and played with little success until 1980 when we won the Avondhu Junior B double – championship and league,. Shanballymore Hurlers
Shanballymore (, colloquially ''Shanbla'') is a small village in north County Cork, Ireland. It neighbours the towns of Doneraile, Kildorrery and Castletownroche, and is off the main route from Mallow to Mitchelstown. Shanballymore is part of the Cork East Dáil constituency. The village has a pub "The Corner House", a school and a Catholic Church. The church is dedicated to Christ the King. Shanballymore GAA is the local GAA club. The 1952 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 66th staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 27 April 1952 and ended on 7 September 1952. Tipperary were the defending champions and were on course for a record-equalling fourth successive All-Ireland, however, they were defeated in the provincial championship. Killavullen
Killavullen () is a village on the river Munster Blackwater, Blackwater, in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The village is located just south of the N72 road, N72 national secondary road, road, between Mallow, County Cork, Mallow and Castletownroche. It is east of Mallow and north of Cork (city), Cork city. The census of 2002 put the population at 224. The parish of Killavullen & Annakissa contains close to 1500 people.
