Willie Considine
William Considine (29 July 1885 – 11 September 1959) was an Irish hurler. At club level he played with Ennis Dalcassians, and also lined out at inter-county level with the Clare senior hurling team. Career Considine first played hurling in his local area with the Ennis Dalcassians club. During a successful period for the club, he was part of the Clare SHC-winning teams in 1911, 1914 and 1915. His other club honours include three Clare SFC medals. By that stage, Considine was already playing for the Clare senior hurling team, having made his debut in 1904. He won a Munster SHC medal in 1914, before later lining out at corner-back in Clare's defeat of Laois in the 1914 All-Ireland final. McGrath continued to play for Clare until 1916. Éire Óg, Inis GAA
Éire Óg, Inis GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Ennis, County Clare, Clare, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club plays both Hurling and Gaelic Football at all age levels. Their most recent major achievement came on 7 November 2021 when they won the Clare Senior Football Championship for the nineteenth time, defeating Kilmurry Ibrickane GAA, Kilmurry-Ibrickane by 1–11 to 0–09 in Cusack Park (Ennis), Cusack Park. Prior to the official club formation in 1952, the Ennis Dalcassians represented the county capital. Between 1944-1956 and 1994-1995, players from local rivals St.Josephs Doora-Barefield GAA, St. Joseph's, Doora-Barefield joined up with the club to form the Ennis Faughs. Both clubs were competing at lower levels at the time so it was seen as an opportunity to play senior football. Brendan Considine
Brendan C. Considine (21 February 1897 – 17 December 1983) was an Irish hurler, Gaelic footballer, rugby player and boxer who played as a left corner-forward for the Clare, Dublin, Cork and Waterford senior teams. He first played for Clare in 1914 and was a regular inter-county hurler until his retirement in 1930. Part of the famous Considine family that included his brothers Willie and Tull, Considine is regarded as one of Clare's greatest-ever hurlers. He won two All-Ireland winners' medals, winning his first as a seventeen-year-old in 1914 making him the youngest player ever to win an All-Ireland title. He also won two Munster hurling medals, two Leinster hurling medals and one Leinster football medal. Ennis () is the county town of County Clare, in the mid-west of Ireland. The town lies on the River Fergus, north of where the river widens and enters the Shannon Estuary. The 1914 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 28th staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 10 May 1914 and ended on 18 October 1914. Kilkenny GAA, Kilkenny entered the championship as 1913 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, defending champions, however, they were beaten by Laois GAA, Laois in the Leinster final. All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in Ireland, and has been contested every year except one since 1887. The final, currently held on the third Sunday in August, is the culmination of a series of games played during July and August, with the winning team receiving the Liam MacCarthy Cup. Irish War Of Independence
The Irish War of Independence () or Anglo-Irish War was a guerrilla war fought in Ireland from 1919 to 1921 between the Irish Republican Army (IRA, the army of the Irish Republic) and British forces: the British Army, along with the quasi-military Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) and its paramilitary forces the Auxiliaries and Ulster Special Constabulary (USC). It was part of the Irish revolutionary period. In April 1916, Irish republicans launched the Easter Rising against British rule and proclaimed an Irish Republic. Irish Republican Army (1919–1922)
The Irish Republican Army (IRA; ga, Óglaigh na hÉireann) was an Irish republican revolutionary paramilitary organisation. The ancestor of many groups also known as the Irish Republican Army, and distinguished from them as the "Old IRA", it was descended from the Irish Volunteers, an organisation established on 25 November 1913 that staged the Easter Rising in April 1916. The 1917 East Clare by-election was held on 10 July 1917. It followed the death of the incumbent MP, Willie Redmond of the Irish Parliamentary Party, who was killed in action during the First World War. The seat had been held since its creation in 1885 by constitutional nationalist MPs, and Redmond had been unopposed in every election since 1900. The result was announced on 11 July 1917. Éamon De Valera
Éamon de Valera (, ; first registered as George de Valero; changed some time before 1901 to Edward de Valera; 14 October 1882 – 29 August 1975) was a prominent Irish statesman and political leader. Tull Considine
Turlough Owen "Tull" Considine (5 October 1898 – 7 July 1980) was an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer who played for the Clare senior teams. A talented dual player, Considine first played for the senior hurling team during the 1918 championship and was a regular on the inter-county scene until his retirement after the 1934 championship. During that time he won one Munster hurling medal. Considine was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. He also played football with Clare. Appearing in the 1917 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final where Clare lost out to Wexford. At club level Considine played with the Ennis Dalcassians club and enjoyed much success.
