William Brown (born 5 February 1950 in Falkirk) is a Scottish people, Scottish former professional association football, footballer, who played as a centre forward. Willie Brown began his career as a junior at Burnley F.C., Burnley, turning professional in February 1967. His only league appearance for the Clarets came as a substitute for Dave Thomas (footballer born 1950), Dave Thomas in the 2–3 defeat away at West Bromwich Albion F.C., West Bromwich Albion on 24 August 1968. In July 1969, he moved to Carlisle United F.C., Carlisle United on a free transfer, but was sent on loan to Barrow F.C., Barrow in September 1969, scoring once in 6 league games. He returned to Carlisle, scoring 8 goals in 19 league games that season, before leaving for Newport County A.F.C., Newport County in August 1970 for a fee of £1,500.
