Willie Allen (basketball)
Will Allen (born February 8, 1949) is an American urban farmer based in Milwaukee and a retired professional basketball player. Basketball career Will Allen was a high school state champion in basketball at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland Allen played collegiately for the Miami Hurricanes at the University of Miami, where he was on a basketball scholarship. He was the first African-American to play basketball for the University of Miami. After college Allen was selected by the Baltimore Bullets in the 4th round (60th pick overall) of the 1971 NBA draft. He never played in the NBA, but appeared in seven games with The Floridians of the ABA during the 1971–72 season. He also played professionally in Belgium. Allen retired from basketball in 1977, when he was 28. Upon retirement, Allen moved to his wife Cynthia's hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. William A. Allen (born June 15, 1980) is an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. He is the co-owner of Rackley WAR, a team that competes full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and in late model racing. Allen previously competed as a driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Truck Series (including a full season in 2007 where he won the Rookie of the Year award), and the ARCA Menards Series. Racing career Driving career Allen made his NASCAR debut in the Craftsman Truck Series in 2005, driving the No. 47 Chevrolet Silverado for Morgan-Dollar Motorsports in the Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway, starting 21st and finishing sixth. Willie Mae Allen
Willie Mae Allen (born February 11, 1937) is an American community activist and politician from Boston who represented the 6th Suffolk District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011. Allen was an unsuccessful candidate for the Boston City Council in 1983 and 1985 (at-large) and the Boston School Committee in 1987 (District 4). From 1988 to 2004 she was the Democratic state committee woman for the 2nd Suffolk district. In 2006 she ran for the Massachusetts House of Representatives seat that was being vacated by Shirley Owens-Hicks. She defeated former Boston deputy superintendent and Newark, New Jersey Police chief William R. Celester for the Democratic nomination and was unopposed in the general election.
