Williamsburg, (also spelled as Williamsburgh), is an Unincorporated area, Unincorporated community in Covington County, Mississippi, United States. Williamsburg served as the county seat from 1829 until 1906. Three separate courthouses were built and subsequently burned in Williamsburg. The last courthouse was burned by an arsonist. Train service was brought to an area nearby named Williamsburg Depot, which was renamed Collins. Williamsburg lost its status as a county seat and was replaced by Collins. ''Williamsburg'' is a 2006 American independent film written, directed, and edited by Brad Saville, as a black and white feature length narrative comedy film, comedy/drama film, drama that provides a satirical look at the lives of seven failing artists in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Background ''Williamsburg'' follows the style set by the French film ''La Ronde (1950 film), La Ronde'', individually following one character before changing focus when that one interacts with another as the new focus. The Battle of Williamsburg, also known as the Battle of Fort Magruder, took place on May 5, 1862, in York County, James City County, and Williamsburg, Virginia, as part of the Peninsula Campaign of the American Civil War. It was the first pitched battle of the Peninsula Campaign, in which nearly 41,000 Federals and 32,000 Confederates were engaged, fighting an inconclusive battle that ended with the Confederates continuing their withdrawal. Following up the Confederate retreat from Yorktown, the Union division of Brig. Gen. Joseph Hooker encountered the Confederate rearguard near Williamsburg. The Gunpowder Incident (or Gunpowder Affair) was a conflict early in the American Revolutionary War between Lord Dunmore, the Royal Governor of the Colony of Virginia, and militia led by Patrick Henry. On April 20, 1775, one day after the Battles of Lexington and Concord (and well before news of those events reached Virginia), Lord Dunmore ordered the removal of the gunpowder from the magazine in Williamsburg, Virginia to a Royal Navy ship. This action sparked local unrest, and militia companies began mustering throughout the colony. Patrick Henry led a small militia force toward Williamsburg to force return of the gunpowder to the colony's control. The matter was resolved without conflict when a payment of £330 was made to Henry. Dunmore, fearing for his personal safety, later retreated to a naval vessel, ending royal control of the colony.
