William Lukin Windham
Vice-Admiral William Lukin, later William Lukin Windham (20 September 1768 – 12 January 1833), was a Royal Navy officer who rose to the rank of Vice Admiral and served with great distinction through the Napoleonic Wars. Eventually he inherited the house and estates of William Windham. Early life William Lukin was born in the village of Felbrigg, Norfolk on 20 September 1768. He was the son of the Rev. George Lukin and Susan Katherine Doughty. His father was the rector of Felbrigg and Aylmerton. The Rev. George Lukin was the half brother of William Windham. who was the local squire of Felbrigg Hall and one time member of parliament for Norwich and Secretary at War in the Cabinet. Windham had a special affection for all the children of the Rev. Lukin and in particular William Lukin who would eventually become his heir. Horatio William Walpole, 4th Earl of Orford (18 April 1813 – 7 December 1894), styled Lord Walpole between 1822 and 1858, was a British peer and Conservative politician. Background Orford was the son of Horatio Walpole, 3rd Earl of Orford, and Mary, daughter of William Augustus Fawkener. Political career In 1835, at the age of 21, Orford was returned to Parliament as one of two representatives for Norfolk East, a seat he held until 1837. In 1858 he succeeded his father in the earldom and took his seat in the House of Lords. He referred to the famed advocate of women's rights Mary Wollstonecraft as "a hyena in petticoats". Family Lord Orford married Harriet Bettina Frances, daughter of Admiral the Hon. Sir Fleetwood Pellew, in 1841. Sir John Buxton, 2nd Baronet
Sir John Jacob Buxton, 2nd Baronet (13 August 1788 – 13 October 1842) was a politician from Shadwell Court in Brettenham, Norfolk who sat in the House of Commons from 1818 to 1832. Buxton was the eldest son of Sir Robert Buxton, 1st Baronet and his wife Juliana Mary Beevor. He was educated at Harrow School and at Christ Church, Oxford. He led the life of well-to-do Victorian country gentlemen, and concentrated on his estates, administrative offices and charitable work in the county and the cultivation of an agreeable social life. Buxton was elected Member of Parliament for Great Bedwyn in 1818 and held the seat until it was replaced under the Great Reform Act in 1832. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Buxton, of Shadwell Lodge, Norfolk on 7 June 1839 and was High Sheriff of Norfolk in 1841. Edmond Wodehouse (1784–1855)
Edmund Wodehouse (26 July 1784 – 21 August 1855), was a British politician. Background Wodehouse was the son of Thomas Wodehouse, younger son of Sir Armine Wodehouse, 5th Baronet and brother of John Wodehouse, 1st Baron Wodehouse. His mother was Sarah, daughter of Pryse Campbell. Political career Wodehouse entered Parliament as one of two representatives for Norfolk in 1817, a seat he held until 1830. Between 1835 and 1855 he was a Tory Member of Parliament (MP) for Norfolk East. Family Wodehouse married his first cousin, Lucy, daughter of Reverend Philip Wodehouse, in 1809. They had several children, including Sir Philip Wodehouse and General Edmund Wodehouse. She died in June 1829. Wodehouse remained a widower until his death in August 1855, aged 76. Felbrigg Hall
Felbrigg Hall is a 17th-century English country house near the village of that name in Norfolk. Part of a National Trust property, the unaltered 17th-century house is noted for its Jacobean architecture and fine Georgian interior. Outside is a walled garden, an orangery and orchards. The house and grounds were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Ketton-Cremer. The hall is Grade I on the National Heritage List for England. Most of the grounds are part of Felbrigg Woods, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. History The estate originated with the Felbrigg family. It passed to John Wyndham (died 1475) and remained in that family for centuries. Thomas Wyndham (died 1522) was a councillor to King Henry VIII. Later, residents included John Wyndham (1558–1645) who was probably the builder of Felbrigg Hall. The last Wyndham or Windham of Felbrigg was William Wyndham (died 1810). General George Thomas Keppel, 6th Earl of Albemarle, (13 June 179921 February 1891), styled The Honourable from birth until 1851, was a British soldier, Liberal politician and writer. Background and education Born in Marylebone, he was the third and second surviving son of William Keppel, 4th Earl of Albemarle, and his first wife Elizabeth, fourth daughter of Edward Southwell, 20th Baron de Clifford. In 1851, he succeeded his older brother Augustus as earl. His lifelong friend was Sir Robert Adair. Keppel spent his childhood at his father's residence Elden Hall and was educated at Westminster School. In 1815, he entered the British Army as an ensign. Military career Keppel fought with the 14th Regiment of Foot in the Battle of Waterloo.
