William Wilson (born 1921) was Scottish professional association football, footballer who played as a goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper. Wilson was born in Dumfries and played in the local amateur scene for Crichton F.C., Crichton Royal before joining hometown club Queen of the South F.C., Queen of the South. At ''Queens'' he was unable to secure a regular game ahead of Roy Henderson (footballer), Roy Henderson and was transferred to Clyde F.C., Clyde, for whom he broke a finger in the 1955 Scottish Cup semi-final against Dave Halliday's Aberdeen F.C., Aberdeen and thus missed the 1955 Scottish Cup Final, final win against Celtic F.C., Celtic. Dumfries
Dumfries ( ; sco, Dumfries; from gd, Dùn Phris ) is a market town and former royal burgh within the Dumfries and Galloway council area of Scotland. It is located near the mouth of the River Nith into the Solway Firth about by road from the Anglo-Scottish border and just away from Cumbria by air. 1955 Scottish Cup Final
The 1954–55 Scottish Cup was the 70th staging of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. The Cup was won by Clyde who defeated Celtic in the replayed final. It was Clyde's second cup success, whilst Celtic lost in the final having won the last five Scottish Cup finals that they had played in. The 1955 final was the first to be televised live, being broadcast by the BBC. This was not officially announced before the match. The replayed final was not televised. Alan Davidson (born 17 April 1960 in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire) is a former Scottish football goalkeeper. Davidson is the son of former FIFA referee Bob Davidson. Early years Davidson played his youth football with Royal Albert until June 1979, before joining Celtic for the start of season 1979–80. Davidson played in the reserve and youth teams during his season at Celtic Park. He re-joined Royal Albert for the 1980–81 season. Airdrieonians Davidson signed for Airdrieonians at the start of the 1981–82 season, where he played in 10 first team matches. Airdrieonians finished bottom of the Scottish Premier Division at the end of that season and were relegated.
