William Waldegrave, Baron Waldegrave Of North Hill
William Arthur Waldegrave, Baron Waldegrave of North Hill, (; born 15 August 1946) is a British Conservative Party politician who served as a Cabinet minister from 1990 until 1997, and is a life member of the Tory Reform Group. Since 1999, he has been a life peer in the House of Lords. Since 8 February 2009, Lord Waldegrave has been the Provost of Eton College. Additionally, he was inaugurated as Chancellor of the University of Reading on 9 December 2016. Waldegrave's 2015 memoir, ''A Different Kind of Weather'', discusses his high youthful political ambition, his political and to some extent personal life, and growing acceptance that he would not achieve his ultimate ambition. It also provides an account of the Heath, Thatcher and—to a lesser extent—Major governments, including his role in the development of the 'community charge' or poll tax. Kenneth Wilfred Baker, Baron Baker of Dorking, (born 3 November 1934) is a British politician, a former Conservative Member of Parliament and cabinet minister, including holding the offices of Home Secretary, Education Secretary and Conservative Party Chairman. John Julian Ganzoni, 2nd Baron Belstead, Baron Ganzoni, (30 September 1932 – 3 December 2005) was a British Conservative politician and peer who served as Leader of the House of Lords under Margaret Thatcher from 1988 to 1990. Rodney Elton, 2nd Baron Elton (born 2 March 1930), is a British Conservative politician and former member of the House of Lords. Biography Elton is the son of Godfrey Elton, 1st Baron Elton. He was educated at Eton College and New College, Oxford, and succeeded to the peerage on his father's death in 1973. Between 1964 and 1967, he was a master at Loughborough Grammar School. John Haggitt Charles Patten, Baron Patten, (born 17 July 1945) is a former Conservative Member of Parliament for Oxford West and Abingdon. Douglas Martin Hogg, 3rd Viscount Hailsham, Baron Hailsham of Kettlethorpe (born 5 February 1945), is a British politician and barrister. David John Mellor (born 12 March 1949) is a British broadcaster, barrister, and former politician.
