William W. Woodman
William Wallace Woodman (March 24, 1818February 26, 1901) was an American lawyer, farmer, Democratic politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He served four years in the Wisconsin State Senate and two years in the State Assembly, representing Jefferson County. Biography William W. Woodman was born in the town of Rodman, New York, on March 24, 1818. He came to the Wisconsin Territory in 1839, settling first in Rock County. He relocated to Farmington, in Jefferson County, in 1844. For over 40 years he was justice of the peace at Johnson Creek, Wisconsin. Woodman was active in the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. Wisconsin's 23rd State Senate District
The 23rd Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in northwest Wisconsin, the district comprises all of Chippewa County and most of Clark County, as well as eastern Eau Claire County, eastern Dunn County, western Marathon County, and parts of northwest Jackson County and northeast Trempealeau County. The district is mostly rural, but contains the cities of Black River Falls and Chippewa Falls, most of the city of Marshfield, and part of the city of Eau Claire. The Ninth Wisconsin Legislature convened from January 9, 1856, to March 31, 1856, in regular session, and re-convened from September 3, 1856, to October 14, 1856. This was a pivotal legislative session in the fall of the Democratic Party in Wisconsin and the rise of the new Republican Party—the Republicans would dominate the state government for most of the next 100 years. The start of the session saw the dispute over the 1855 Wisconsin gubernatorial election, in which the Democratic incumbent governor, William A. Barstow, was forced to resign from office three months into this term after the Wisconsin Supreme Court threw out a number of apparently fraudulent votes. The Sixth Wisconsin Legislature convened from January 12, 1853, to April 4, 1853, in regular session. They reconvened from June 6 to July 13 to sit as a court of impeachment for Wisconsin Circuit Court Judge Levi Hubbell. Johnson Creek is a village in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,318 at the 2020 census.
