William Vogel
William Michael Vogel (November 16, 1931 – February 1, 2019) was a Canadian politician who served as Mayor of Surrey, British Columbia from 1978 to 1980. He previously served as an alderman on Surrey City Council from 1973 to 1977. Prior to his death he lived in Langley, British Columbia and was a former pilot. His father, Hunter Vogel was a businessman and founder/owner of the Cloverdale Paint company. Edward McKitka
Edward Adolph McKitka (born Adolf Mikitka; March 15, 1934 – February 4, 2014) was a Canadian politician who served as the Mayor of Surrey, British Columbia for one term from 1975 until 1977. McKitka was first elected as a Surrey city alderman in 1968. He was elected Mayor of Surrey, British Columbia's second largest city, in 1975, serving a single term in office from 1975 to 1977. In November 1977, McKitka was defeated for re-election by Bill Vogel in the Surrey mayoral election. McKitka left office under a police investigation for misuse of office. He was convicted of breach of trust committed during his mayoral tenure and served time in prison. In 1979, McKitka returned to politics when he was re-elected as a Surrey alderman for a one-year term. Ed McKitka died from injuries sustained in a one vehicle accident in Chilliwack, British Columbia, on February 4, 2014, at the age of 79. Hunter Vogel
Hunter Bertram August Vogel (August 4, 1903 – April 25, 1990) was a Canadian politician. He served in the British Columbia Legislative Assembly from 1963 to 1972, as a Social Credit member for the constituency of Delta (1963-1966), then Langley (1966-1972). Vogel was born to Hans Broder Anton Vogel, a German (Danish?) immigrant, and Anne Georgia Hunter, originally from Canada. He completed a business course from the University of Toronto via correspondence. In 1929, he married Margaret Isabel Gunn.
