William T. Evans (politician)
William T. Evans (February 14, 1925 – October 19, 1991) was an American politician and judge from Maryland. He served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 6 from 1967 to 1973. Early life William T. Evans was born on February 14, 1925, Newton Falls, Ohio. As a child, his family moved to Dundalk, Maryland. He graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1943. He graduated from the University of Baltimore with an Associate of Arts in 1949. He graduated with a Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1952. He was admitted to the bar in Maryland in 1952. Career During World War II, Evans served as a bombardier in the United States Army Air Forces in the Pacific Ocean theater. He reached the rank of first lieutenant. After the war, Evans worked as an insurance adjuster for USF&G. In 1952, he began practicing law in Dundalk. Maryland's Legislative District 6 is one of 47 districts in the state for the Maryland General Assembly. It covers part of Baltimore County. Demographic characteristics As of the 2020 United States census, the district had a population of 128,766, of whom 98,958 (76.9%) were of voting age. The racial makeup of the district was 79,430 (61.7%) White, 26,074 (20.2%) African American, 1,143 (0.9%) Native American, 2,777 (2.2%) Asian, 34 (0.0%) Pacific Islander, 9,149 (7.1%) from some other race, and 10,146 (7.9%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 14,299 (11.1%) of the population. Winter Haven, Florida
Winter Haven is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. It is fifty-one miles east of Tampa. The population was 49,219 at the 2020 census. According to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2019 estimates, this city had a population of 44,955, making it the second most populated city in Polk County. It is a principal city of the Lakeland-Winter Haven, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Pre-history The Timucua and the Calusa were the earliest known inhabitants of the land that would become Winter Haven. Both of these groups were deeply affected by war and disease from the Spanish conquest of Florida in the early 1500s. The Timucua were particularly affected by the expedition of Hernando de Soto. USF&G was an American insurance company that existed from 1896 until 1998. It was originally called the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company. The insurer formed a holding company for its insurance businesses and changed its name to USF&G in July 1981. In January 1998, Saint Paul Companies acquired USF&G for $3.9 billion.
