William T. Cooper
William Thomas "Bill" Cooper AO (6 April 1934 – 10 May 2015) was an Australian artist. William was born in Adamstown NSW Australia to Coral Bird and William Cooper. He had one brother, Buddy Cooper. He was originally a self-taught landscape and seascape artist but achieved renown through natural history scientific paintings, especially of birds. Cooper was also became a taxidermist in his teenage years. Life The first book for which Cooper supplied the paintings was ''Portfolio of Australian Birds'', written by Keith Hindwood in 1967. Later, he illustrated ''Parrots of the World'', ''Birds of Paradise and Bowerbirds'', ''Australian Parrots'', ''Kingfishers and Related Birds'', ''The Cockatoos (a Portfolio of all Species)'', ''Turacos (a Portfolio of all Species)'' and " Pigeons and Doves in Australia" all authored by Joseph Forshaw. Order Of Australia
The Order of Australia is an honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the advice of the Australian Government. Before the establishment of the order, Australian citizens received British honours. The Monarch of Australia is sovereign head of the order, while the Governor-General of Australia is the principal companion/dame/knight (as relevant at the time) and chancellor of the order. Bruce Beehler
Bruce M. Beehler (born October 11, 1951, in Baltimore) is an ornithologist and research associate of the Bird Division of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History. Prior to this appointment, Beehler worked for Conservation International, the Wildlife Conservation Society, Counterpart International, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. Life Bruce Beehler graduated from Williams College and received his master's degree and PhD studying the behavioral ecology of the birds-of-paradise at Princeton University. He has been an authority on New Guinea birds for several decades, having authored or co-authored several major works on the biodiversity this, the largest tropical island, including ''The Birds of Paradise'' (1998), ''The Birds of New Guinea'' (1986, 2015) and the two-volume ''Ecology of Papua'' (2007). Clifford Brodie Frith
Clifford Brodie Frith (born 1949) is an Australian ornithologist and wildlife photographer. He and his wife Dawn Whyatt Frith have studied and published on Australian birds for many years, and publish books as Frith & Frith. Early life and education Clifford Brodie Frith was born in 1949. In 2002 Frith obtained his PhD at Griffith University, Queensland, for his 1200-page thesis "Evolutionary studies of bowerbirds and birds of paradise: affinities and divergence". Ornithologist Frith commenced his ornithological career at the Natural History Museum, London, where he worked from 1967 to 1970. Most of 1968 was spent in tropical Australia on the Fifth Harold Hall Australian Expedition to the Kimberley and Arnhem Land areas. Keith Alfred Hindwood
Keith Alfred Hindwood (1904-1971) was a Sydney-based Australian businessman and amateur ornithologist. He joined the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union (RAOU) in 1924, served as President 1944–1946, and was elected a Fellow of the RAOU in 1951. He was the most prolific contributor to the RAOU journal, the ''Emu'', with some 600 pages of contributions from his first major paper in 1926 to his death.
