Billy Swan
William Lance Swan (born May 12, 1942) is an American country singer-songwriter, best known for his 1974 single, "I Can Help". Biography Swan was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, United States. As a child, he learned drums, piano and guitar, and began writing songs. His first big break was in 1962 when Clyde McPhatter recorded " Lover Please", a song written by Swan when he was in a local band called Mirt Mirly & the Rhythm Steppers, who had first recorded the song on Bill Black's Louis label. McPhatter's version quickly became a No. 7 pop hit. Swan moved to Memphis, Tennessee, to work with Black, but this was cut short with Black's illness and subsequent death in 1965. It was rumored that Swan worked as a security guard at Graceland. While he was friends with one of the security guards he never worked at Graceland. William Swan Garvin
William Swan Garvin (July 25, 1806 – February 20, 1883) was a western Pennsylvania newspaper proprietor who is most widely known for his term as a Jacksonian and Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Early years Garvin was born in Mercer, Pennsylvania. At 13, he became an apprentice for Mercer County's ''Western Press'', a Democratic newspaper. Career After journeying as a newspaper printer, in 1830 he returned to the ''Western Press'' as its proprietor, a position he held off and on for the rest of his life. Garvin was postmaster of Mercer from 1837 to 1841. Garvin was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-ninth Congress. William Swan Plumer (July 26, 1802 – October 22, 1880) was an American clergyman, theologian and author who was recognized as an intellectual leader of the Presbyterian Church in the 1800s. Early life William S. Plumer was born to William and Catharine Plumer (née McAlester) in Greersburg, present day Darlington, Pennsylvania, on July 26, 1802. He graduated from Washington College (now Washington and Lee University in Virginia) in 1825, received his religious education at Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey, and was ordained in the Presbyterian Church. He was licensed in the Presbytery of New Brunswick, a Presbytery in New Jersey, as a clergyman in 1826, and the state's Orange Presbytery ordained him as an evangelist in 1827. Beulah (band)
Beulah was an American indie rock band from San Francisco, California, often associated with The Elephant 6 Recording Company. History Early years: 1996-1998 The band was formed by Miles Kurosky and Bill Swan in San Francisco in 1996, while the pair were working in the same office. They discovered that they shared similar musical tastes and, disregarding some mutual dislike, decided to form a band. This early incarnation of Beulah recorded a song every six weeks for 16 months on their four-track recorder. The band received attention from The Apples in Stereo frontman and Elephant 6 member Robert Schneider, who expressed interest on releasing what was to be its first single, ''A Small Cattle Drive in a Snow Storm'', on Elephant 6 Records. William Jonathan Swan (born 26 October 2000) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for club Mansfield Town. Swan began his career at Nottingham Forest, from where he was loaned out to Truro City, Port Vale and Mansfield Town. He was sold to Mansfield Town in July 2023. Career Nottingham Forest Swan joined the Nottingham Forest academy at the age of 13. On 4 January 2020, Swan joined Southern League Premier Division South side Truro City on a one-month loan and scored two goals on his debut at Treyew Road in a 4–0 win over Metropolitan Police later that day. William Swan (born December 5, 1985) is an American songwriter and musician born in Sacramento, California. He is best known as the lead guitarist and co-founder of the American post-hardcore band Dance Gavin Dance and as the founder and owner of record label Blue Swan Records. Bill Swan (born 1956) is a former Australian rules footballer who was a star of the Victorian Football Association (VFA) during the 1980s over an eighteen-year senior career with the Port Melbourne and Williamstown Football Clubs. Career Originally from Port Melbourne before moving to Broadmeadows at age 14, Swan was zoned from Broadmeadows to the Carlton Football Club in the Victorian Football League and played under-19s and reserves football there from 1973 until 1975, before walking out on the club. In 1976, he joined Port Melbourne in the VFA, and was part of the club's senior premiership team in his first season. Standing at only 173 cm tall, Swan played a variety of roles, before he cemented a position as the centreman in the strong Port Melbourne team which won three consecutive premierships from 1980 until 1982. William Swan (silversmith)
William Swan (August 14, 1715 - April 18, 1774) was an American silversmith, active in Massachusetts. Swan was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and worked circa 1740-1752 as a silversmith in Boston, where he married Levinah Keyes on December 4, 1743. He worked circa 1752-1754 as a silversmith in Marlborough, Massachusetts, where he moved on account of smallpox, then circa 1754 as a silversmith in Worcester, where he was appointed in 1772 as Clerk of the Market and in 1773 as Sealer of Weights and Measures. He died in Worcester, with his obituary in the '' Boston Weekly News-Letter'' (May 5, 1774) reading: "Goldsmith, formerly of Boston, a Man of a very respectable Character." Rocketplane
A rocket-powered aircraft or rocket plane is an aircraft that uses a rocket engine for propulsion, sometimes in addition to airbreathing jet engines. Rocket planes can achieve much higher speeds than similarly sized jet aircraft, but typically for at most a few minutes of powered operation, followed by a gliding flight.
