Jack Williamson
John Stewart Williamson (April 29, 1908 – November 10, 2006), who wrote as Jack Williamson, was an American list of science fiction authors, science fiction writer, often called the "Dean of Science Fiction". He is also credited with one of the first uses of the term ''genetic engineering''. Early in his career he sometimes used the pseudonyms Will Stewart and Nils O. Sonderlund. Early life Williamson was born April 29, 1908 in Bisbee, Arizona, Bisbee, Arizona Territory. According to his own account, the first three years of his life were spent on a ranch at the top of the Sierra Madre Mountains on the headwaters of the Yaqui River in Sonora, Mexico. He spent much of the rest of his early childhood in western Texas. William Stewart, 1st Earl Of Blessington
William Stewart, 1st Earl of Blessington (7 April 170914 August 1769) was an Anglo-Irish peer and member of the House of Lords, styled The Honourable William Stewart until 1728 and known as The Viscount Mountjoy from 1728 to 1745. Life Stewart was the son of William Stewart, 2nd Viscount Mountjoy and Anne Boyle. He married Eleanor Fitzgerald, daughter of Robert Fitzgerald, on 10 January 1733. They had two children, William Stewart and Lionel Robert, both of whom died before their father. He succeeded his father as Viscount Mountjoy on 10 January 1727. He was Grand Master of the Freemasons (in Ireland) between 1738 and 1740. He was created Earl of Blessington on 7 December 1745, his mother having been sister and sole heiress of Charles, 2nd and last Viscount Blesington. He was made Governor of County Tyrone and in 1748, was sworn of the Privy Council of Ireland. General Sir William Stewart (1643 – 4 June 1726), was a Scottish-born soldier, Commander-in-chief of Queen Anne's Forces in Ireland, Member of Parliament for County Waterford and a Privy Councillor. William Stewart (1737 – 8 October 1797), of Castle Stewart, was a Scottish MP in the British Parliament. He was a member of a junior branch of the family of the Earl of Galloway, being the first son of John Stewart of Castle Stewart. Stewart was educated at Glasgow University. William Stewart (8 July 1856 – 27 August 1947) was a Scottish socialist activist and prominent figure in the Independent Labour Party. Born in Dunfermline, Stewart became a yarn dresser in a linen factory. From his youth, he began regularly writing to local newspapers about political and literary topics. When a parish council was created for the town, he was elected to it, and he also launched a socialist newspaper, ''The Worker''. William John Stewart (1868 – 14 May 1946) was a Unionist politician in Northern Ireland who formed a Progressive Unionist Association to protest "autocratic" tendencies in the Unionist government and its lack of action on unemployment. Life Stewart studied at Queen's College, Belfast and became managing director at Stewart and Partners, Ltd. In 1919 he was an Independent Unionist candidate. He was elected as Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Belfast South at the 1929 general election. He was returned unopposed in 1931 and 1935. and was an MP to 1945.
