William R. Bradford
William Rawsel Bradford (October 25, 1933 - January 24, 2019) was an American general authority of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1975 until his death. Bradford was born in Springville, Utah, to Rawsel W. Bradford and Mary Waddoups. During the 1940s Bradford went to Hawaii as his parents served as missionaries in the Laie Hawaii Temple Visitors Center. He graduated from Springville High School and then began studies at Brigham Young University. From 1953 to 1955, Bradford was a missionary for the LDS Church in Japan. He then married Mary Ann Bird, a native of Mapleton, Utah, in the Salt Lake Temple. Bradford then served in the United States military. After this he moved to McAllen, Texas, and began a fruit-growing operation called International Fruit Growers and Shippers, Inc. The company's operations extended into Mexico and Central America. Springville is a city in Utah County, Utah, Utah County, Utah that is part of the Provo–Orem metropolitan area. The population was 35,268 in 2020, according to the United States Census. Branch President
A branch president is a leader of a "branch" congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The calling of branch president is very similar to the calling of bishop, except that instead of presiding over a ward, the branch president presides over a branch. The branch president is directly responsible for the operation of his branch and the well-being of its patrons. The branch president usually has two counselors to assist him in his duties. These three men comprise the ''branch presidency''. Like almost all callings in the LDS Church, the branch president is not paid for his work in the church. A branch president must hold the priesthood and at a minimum must hold the office of priest. ''The Ensign of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints'', commonly shortened to ''Ensign'' ( ), was an official periodical of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1971 to 2020. The magazine was first issued in January 1971, along with the correlated '' New Era'' (for youth) and the ''Friend'' (for children). Houston Texas Temple
The Houston Texas Temple is the 97th operating temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The temple serves over forty-four thousand Latter-day Saints in east Texas, and a few congregations in southwest Louisiana. History After the September 1997 announcement that the LDS Church would build a temple in Houston, the search began for an appropriate site. The site chosen formerly belonged to a developer unwilling to sell. Years earlier, however, the developer had gone through difficult financial times and had made a promise to God that if God would help him avoid financial ruin, he would someday "pay God back". When the developer learned what was proposed to be built on his land, he decided to sell the land as his way of paying God back. Temple President
Temple president is a priesthood leadership position in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). A temple president's primary responsibility is to supervise the affairs of an LDS temple in both an administrative and spiritual capacity. The president is assisted by two male counselors and together they compose the temple presidency. Normally the wife of the temple president serves as the temple matron, and the wives of the president's counselors as assistants to the matron. The matron and her assistants share in the responsibilities of the temple presidency. All members of a temple presidency are ordained high priests of the church.
