William Pryce-Jones
William Ernest Pryce-Jones (29 December 1867 – 14 March 1949) was a Welsh people, Welsh international association football, footballer. He was born at Newtown, Montgomeryshire and educated at Shrewsbury School and Cambridge University. He died at Tywyn, Merionethshire.Published under Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians. He was the son of Pryce Pryce-Jones, Sir Pryce Pryce-Jones, a former Conservatism, Conservative member of the British House of Commons. He was part of the Wales national football team between 1887 and 1890, playing five matches and scoring three goals. He played his first match on 21 March 1887 against Scotland whilst a Cambridge University A.F.C., Cambridge University player. His last match was on 8 February 1890 against Ireland. The FAW Welsh Cup ( cy, Cwpan Cymdeithas Pêl-droed Cymru), currently known as the JD Welsh Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a knock-out football competition contested annually by teams in the Welsh football league system. It is considered the most prestigious of the cup competitions in domestic Welsh association football. The Football Association of Wales (FAW) is the organising body of this competition, which has been run (except during the two World Wars and the COVID-19 pandemic) every year since its inception in 1877–78. South Wales Borderers
The South Wales Borderers was a line infantry regiment of the British Army in existence for 280 years. It came into existence in England in 1689, as Sir Edward Dering's Regiment of Foot, and afterwards had a variety of names and headquarters. In 1782, it became the 24th Regiment of Foot, and had its depot in Warwickshire. Based at Brecon from 1873, the regiment recruited from the border counties of Brecknockshire, Monmouthshire, and Herefordshire. It was not called the South Wales Borderers until the Childers Reforms of 1881. The regiment served in a great many conflicts, including the American War of Independence, various conflicts in India, the Zulu War, Second Boer War, and World War I and World War II. Albert Pryce-Jones ( – 17 August 1946) was a Welsh people, Welsh international association football, footballer. Pryce-Jones was born in Newtown, Powys, Newtown, Montgomeryshire, Wales in 1870. He was the son of Pryce Pryce-Jones, Sir Pryce Pryce-Jones, a former Conservative Party (UK), Conservative member of the British House of Commons. He was part of the Wales national football team, playing 1 match on 18 March 1895 against England. In 1895 he played for Newtown A.F.C., Newtown in their Welsh Cup victory. He appeared alongside his brother William Pryce-Jones who was also an international footballer for Wales. He emigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1910 where he established the department store Pryce-Jones Ltd. He served in the Canadian infantry in World War I. He died in August 1946 aged 76.
