William Paget, 1st Baron Paget
William Paget, 1st Baron Paget of Beaudesert (15069 June 1563), was an English statesman and accountant who held prominent positions in the service of Henry VIII, Edward VI and Mary I. Early life He was the son of John Pachett or Paget, one of the serjeants-at-mace of the city of London. He was born in Staffordshire in 1506, and was educated at St Paul's School when William Lily was its headmaster, and at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, proceeding afterwards to the University of Paris. William Paget, 4th Baron Paget De Beaudesert
William Paget, 4th Baron Paget of Beaudesert (1572 – 29 August 1629) was an English peer and colonist born in Beaudesert House, Staffordshire, England to Thomas Paget, 3rd Baron Paget and Nazareth Newton. His grandfather was William Paget, 1st Baron Paget (1506-1563). William's father and his uncle, Charles Paget were both devout Catholics, and would not conform to the Protestant religion of Queen Elizabeth I. Thomas Paget fled to Paris on the uncovering of the Throckmorton Plot in November 1583, joining his brother who had been in exile there since 1581. The failed conspiracy's plan was for an invasion of England by French forces under the command of Henry, Duke of Guise, financed by Philip II of Spain. English Catholics would then rise up and depose Elizabeth, placing Catholic Mary, Queen of Scots on the English throne. Europe was ablaze with conflicts between Catholics and Protestants. William Paget, 5th Baron Paget
William Paget, 5th Baron Paget (13 September 1609 – 19 October 1678) was an English peer. He was born at Beaudesert House, Staffordshire, England to William Paget, 4th Baron Paget and Lettice Knollys. Career He was a Parliamentarian with land in Buckinghamshire. At the outbreak of the English Civil War in 1641, he was made the Parliamentarian Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire. However the following year he swapped sides to become a Royalist under King Charles I and so was dismissed from that role and replaced by Philip Wharton, 4th Baron Wharton. Family On 28 June 1632 Paget married Lady Frances Rich, daughter of Henry Rich, 1st Earl of Holland and Isabel Cope. From 1637 to 1643 they lived at 43 King Street, Covent Garden. William Paget, 6th Baron Paget
William Paget, 6th Baron Paget (10 February 1637 – 26 February 1713) was an English peer and ambassador. He was the eldest son of William Paget, 5th Baron Paget and Lady Isabella Rich, daughter of Henry Rich, 1st Earl of Holland. Paget was English ambassador to Vienna between 1689 and 1692. Appointed as ambassador to the Ottoman Empire at Constantinople in June 1692. The Royal Instructions arrived on 5 September and he left England a week later. He travelled via Vienna, which he left on 12 December, arriving at Adrianople on 30 January 1693. He finally reached Constantinople in July. Paget asked to be recalled in 1697, during which time he was central to the negotiation of the Treaty of Carlowitz between the Ottomans and the Habsburgs. His cousin, the poet Aaron Hill, visited him in Constantinople. He was finally brought home in May 1702. Paget owned considerable estates in Staffordshire, particularly around Burton on Trent. Captain William Paget (22 December 1769 – September 1794) was a British Royal Navy officer and Member of Parliament. Background Paget was the second son of Henry Paget, 1st Earl of Uxbridge, and Jane, daughter of the Very Reverend Arthur Champagné. He was the brother of Henry Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey, Sir Arthur Paget, Sir Edward Paget, Sir Charles Paget and Berkeley Paget. Lord William Paget
Captain Lord William Paget (1 March 1803 – 17 May 1873) was a British naval commander and Whig politician. Paget was the second son of Field Marshal Henry Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey, by his first wife Lady Caroline Elizabeth, daughter of George Villiers, 4th Earl of Jersey, and Frances Villiers, Countess of Jersey. He was the brother of Henry Paget, 2nd Marquess of Anglesey and the half-brother of Lord Clarence Paget, Lord Alfred Paget and Lord George Paget. Paget served in the Royal Navy and achieved the rank of Captain. He also served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Carnarvon from 1826 to 1830 (succeeding his uncle Sir Charles Paget) and Andover from 1841 to 1847. He was made a post captain, in the Royal Navy on 18 Oct0ber 1826, and was appointed captain of the vice-regal yacht HMS Royal Charlotte in November 1827 on a salary of £1,200, by the duke of Clarence for the duration of Paget's fathers, Irish lord lieutenancy.
