William Ogle, 1st Viscount Ogle
William Ogle, 1st Viscount Ogle ( 1600-14 July 1682) was an English soldier from Northumberland who settled in Hampshire and was Member of Parliament for Winchester (UK Parliament constituency), Winchester from 1640 to 1643. He served in a number of wars and was Cavaliers, Royalist governor of Winchester from 1643 to 1645. Personal details William Ogle was born around 1600 near Ashington, son of Cuthbert Ogle; the Ogle family, Ogles were landed gentry distributed throughout Northumberland, whose relatives included William Cavendish, 1st Duke of Newcastle, Cavalier, Royalist commander in Northern England from 1642 to 1644. William Ogle Carr
Sir William Ogle Carr (13 November 1802 – 24 April 1856) was the ninth Chief Justice of Ceylon and eighth King's Advocate of Ceylon. He was appointed on 17 April 1854, succeeding Anthony Oliphant Sir Anthony Oliphant (17 November 1793 – 9 March 1859) was a Scottish lawyer who was the eighth Chief Justice of Ceylon. Early life and family Oliphant was born in Forgandenny, Perthshire, the third of seven children of Ebenezer Oliphant of Co ..., and was Chief Justice until 1856. He was succeeded by William Carpenter Rowe. Carr took J. G. Hildebrand on the bench. In the following year he functioned as Senior Puisne Justice before being confirmed in the post. When Chief Justice Oliphant retired in 1854 Carr took the middle seat. William Ogle (physician)
William Ogle BA DM FRCP (21 December 1827 - 12 April 1912) was an English physician and classicist who became registrar-general of the General Register Office. After attending Rugby School Ogle took a BA in Natural Sciences at Corpus Christi College, Oxford. He lectured in physiology at St George's Hospital after which he was appointed to various other posts before retiring from there and working at the General Register Office, where he was eventually appointed registrar-general.
