William Norris (antiquarian)
William Norris (1719–1791) was an English clergyman and antiquarian. Life He was brother to Robert Norris (author), Robert Norris. He was elected Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries on 4 April 1754, and that year began to assist Joseph Ames (author), Joseph Ames as secretary to the society. On Ames's death, in 1759, Norris became sole secretary, and held the post as an effective official until 1786, when he retired on account of ill-health. He was for several years corrector for the press to Thomas Baskett, the royal printer. He died in Camden Street, Islington, in November 1791, and was buried in the burial-ground of St James, Pentonville, on 29 November. References

William Norris III
William Norris III also known as Bill Norris (October 17, 1936 – July 13, 2016), was an American judge from West Monroe, Louisiana, who served at the municipal, district, and circuit court levels. Norris graduated from Ouachita Parish High School, Northeast Louisiana State College, and Tulane University Law School. Norris practiced law in West Monroe and served on the Ouachita Parish School Board from 1964 to 1971 and from 2011 to 2014 and was a president of the school board. Norris served as West Monroe city attorney from 1964 to 1970 and city judge from 1970 to 1974. From 1974 to 1980, Norris sat on the Louisiana Fourth Judicial District Court, based in Monroe. From 1981 until his retirement in 2002, Norris was a member of the Louisiana Court of Appeal for the Second Circuit, based in Shreveport. William Norris (English Cricketer)
William Arthur Norris (4 November 1830 – 16 April 1889) was an English clergyman and a cricketer who played in one first-class cricket match for Cambridge University in 1851. He also rowed for Cambridge University in the University Boat Race of 1852. He was born and died at Halifax, West Yorkshire. Norris was educated at Eton College and at Trinity College, Cambridge. Norris was a regular cricket player as a middle-order batsman in the first team at Eton, appearing in the Eton v Harrow match in both 1848 and 1849. At Cambridge, he had only one match for the first eleven, but that was the University Match of 1851 against Oxford University, when he batted at No 10 and scored 12 runs in his only innings. After this match, he played only in minor cricket. Norris graduated from Cambridge in 1854 and was ordained as a Church of England priest. William Norreys (Berkshire MP)
Sir William Norreys (1552 – 25 December 1579) was an English soldier and courtier of the Tudor period. Family and life Norreys died before his 30th birthday. His parents, Henry Norreys, 1st Baron Norreys (died 1601) and Lady Margery ( Williams; died 1599), daughter and co-heiress of John Williams, 1st Baron Williams, both outlived him. He was elected in 1572 as Member of Parliament to represent Berkshire during the reign of Elizabeth I of England and also served as Marshal of Berwick. Norreys campaigned in Ireland from 1573 till 1576 as a Captain of Horse and again in 1579, where he died of fever. His older brother, Sir John Norreys (died 1597), was one of the most acclaimed English soldiers of his day. William Albert Norris (August 30, 1927 – January 21, 2017) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Norris was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on February 27, 1980, to a seat vacated by Walter Raleigh Ely, Jr. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on June 18, 1980, and received commission the same day. William Charles Norris (July 14, 1911 near Red Cloud, Nebraska – August 21, 2006) was an American business executive. He was the CEO of Control Data Corporation, at one time one of the most powerful and respected computer companies in the world. He is famous for taking on IBM in a head-on fight and winning, as well as being a social activist who used Control Data's expansion in the late 1960s to bring jobs and training to inner cities and disadvantaged communities.
