William McGill (politician)
William McGill (29 December 1814 – 9 November 1883) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He represented Ontario South in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal member from 1867 to 1871. McGillwas born in Glasgow, Scotland to a jeweller and watchmaker, and came to Whitby Township, Upper Canada with his parents while still young. Willie McGill
William Vaness McGill (November 10, 1873 – August 29, 1944) was an American major league baseball pitcher. He played professionally for the Cleveland Infants, Cincinnati Kelly's Killers, St. Louis Browns, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Colts, St. Louis Browns (NL), St. Louis Browns and the Philadelphia Phillies. Biography McGill was born in Atlanta and attended the University of Notre Dame. He played his first professional game with the Cleveland Infants on May 8, 1890. He pitched for seven years, with six different teams. His best year was with the 1891 St. Louis Browns (NL), St. Louis Browns when he had a 19–10 record with a 2.93 ERA. He finished his career with a 4.59 earned run average. He played his last game on June 12, 1896. Bill "The Hill" McGill (September 16, 1939 – July 11, 2014) was an American basketball player best known for inventing the jump hook. McGill was the No. 1 overall pick of the 1962 NBA draft out of the University of Utah, with whom he led the NCAA in scoring with 38.8 points per game in the 1961–1962 season. Early life McGill was born in San Angelo, Texas, where his mother left him in the care of relatives. When he was five, he moved with his mother to Los Angeles, California. McGill attended Jefferson High School in Los Angeles, graduating in 1958. There he was a four-time All Los Angeles City basketball selection (a second team pick in 1955 and a first team choice from 1956–58) playing for Coach Larry Hanson. He was the Los Angeles City Player of the Year in 1957 and 1958, leading Jefferson to two City Championships, in 1955 and 1958.
