Southside Movement
The Southside Movement was an American Soul music, soul and funk musical group from Chicago, Illinois. Composed of vocalist Melvin Moore, guitarist Bobby Pointer (June 19, 1945 - December 26, 2016), keyboardist Morris Beeks, bassist Ronald Simmons, drummer Willie Hayes, alto saxophonist Milton Johnson, trumpeter Stephen Hawkins (June 28, 1945 - September 23, 2021), and trombonist Bill McFarland, the group began as the backing band for the soul duo Simtec & Wylie. Southside Movement issued their self-titled debut album on the Wand record label in 1973; it included the Top 20 United States, US ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, R&B record chart, chart hit, "I've Been Watching You". Their second album, ''Movin’'' appeared in 1974, which provided another breakbeat favorite in the track "Save the World". ''Dream Master'' is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Billie Hughes, released in 1979 on Epic Records by CBS Canada. Hughes composed all of the songs with "Stealin' My Heart Away" issued as the first single in 1979. The album was produced by Henry Lewy who held recording sessions at A&M Studios featuring top Los Angeles session musicians including Jeff Porcaro, Russ Kunkel, Victor Feldman, Wilton Felder, Mike Melvoin, and Mike Porcaro, Oscar Castro-Neves and a guest appearance by José Feliciano on guitar and background vocals. The album was released in the US and internationally where in Japan, it received attention in the Osaka region, and Europe, in connection with the release of Hughes' Martin Eden single, appearing as the theme song of the Martin Eden mini-series, an Italian production broadcasting pan-Europe. William McFarland (Tennessee Politician)
William McFarland (September 15, 1821 – April 12, 1900) was an American politician who served in the United States House of Representatives from 1875 to 1877, representing the 1st congressional district of Tennessee. He is one of only two Democrats to have won this district's seat since the Civil War. McFarland also served as a state court judge in 1869, and as mayor of Morristown, Tennessee, from 1882 to 1885. A Southern Unionist, he was a member of the Jefferson County delegation at the pro-Union East Tennessee Convention in 1861. William H. MacFarland (April 4, 1932 – August 12, 2011) was an ice hockey player who played in college for the University of Michigan and professionally for the Seattle Totems of the Western Hockey League. He was inducted into the University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor in January 2009. Junior hockey and University of Michigan A native of Toronto, Ontario, MacFarland played junior hockey with the Toronto Marlboros in the early 1950s. Adonis Juvenile Novices' Hurdle
The Adonis Juvenile Novices' Hurdle is a Grade 2 National Hunt hurdle race in United Kingdom which is open to horses aged four years. It is run at Kempton Park over a distance of about 2 miles (), and during its running there are eight hurdles to be jumped. The race is for novice hurdlers, and it is scheduled to take place each year in late February. The event serves as a principal trial for the Triumph Hurdle in March. William McFarland, also known as "the Mexican", is a Northern Irish loyalist paramilitary. He was a leading figure in the Ulster Defence Association (UDA), he had served as head of the North Antrim and Londonderry East Tyrone Brigade of the group. He defrauded investors of $27.4 million by marketing and selling tickets to the festival and other events. In 2013, McFarland founded Magnises, a card-based club targeted at millennials, using $1.5 million of investor funding. He later founded and was CEO of Fyre Media, which developed the Fyre mobile app for booking music talent.
