William Óge Martyn
William Óge Martyn ( fl. 1566–1592) was the 101st Mayor of Galway. Early life Also known as William Óge Martyn fitz Thomas, he was a son of Thomas Óge Martyn and Evelina Lynch of Galway. Bailiff of Galway in 1566 to 1567, he was kidnapped by the Earl of Thomond in January 1570 but was free in time to participate at the battle of Shrule in April of the same year. He served as High Sheriff of County Galway and Jailer of Athlone Castle during the 1570s and 1580s. Grace O'Malley Martyn attempted to capture or kill the pirate Grace O'Malley at her stronghold of Rockfleet Castle in 1579, but was repulsed. William Martyn (historian)
William Martyn (1562–1617) was an English lawyer and historian. Life Baptised at St Petrock's Church, Exeter, 19 September 1562, he was the eldest son of Nicholas Martyn of Exeter, by his first wife, Mary, daughter of Lennard Yeo of Hatherleigh. Having been sent to Exeter grammar school, he matriculated at Broadgates Hall, Oxford, in the autumn of 1581. Martyn was called to the bar at the Middle Temple in 1589, and from 1605 to 1617 held the office of recorder of Exeter. On 7 April 1617 he died at Exeter, and was buried in St. Petrock's Church on 12 April, with an inscription placed to his memory. Works Martyn was the author of ''The Historie and Lives of the Kings of England from William the Conqveror vnto the end of the Raigne of Henrie the Eight'', 1615, containing preliminary verses from his three sons and his son-in-law, and an appendix of "succession of dukes and earles" and other particulars. Will Martyn
William Martyn (born 29 March 2001) is a professional Australian rules footballer who plays for the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life, junior football and state-league football Martyn first played junior football for the Aspley Football Club's under eight division. He was a stand out player from an early age, joining the under 13 division of the Brisbane Lions Academy in 2014. He represented the Brisbane North region at State Academy Championships over coming years, including in 2015. In 2016, Martyn represented Queensland at the Under 15 National Championships and was named best on ground in a premiership winning division 1 final with the Aspley Under 15 side that same year. In 2018, Martyn represented Queensland at the Under 17 National Championships, where he was regularly the side's leading ball-winner and named in his team's best players on two occasions.
