William Mahony (swimmer)
William Victor Mahony (born September 16, 1949) is a former breaststroke swimmer who represented Canada in multiple international championships from 1966 to 1974, including two Summer Olympics, the Pan American Games, and two Commonwealth Games. Mahony began his international career at the 1966 Commonwealth Games in Jamaica, with a bronze medal in the 220-yard breaststroke. Breaststroke
Breaststroke is a swimming style in which the swimmer is on their chest and the torso does not rotate. It is the most popular recreational style due to the swimmer's head being out of the water a large portion of the time, and that it can be swum comfortably at slow speeds. Stephen John Pickell (born August 11, 1957) is a Canadian retired competition swimmer. Swimming career Pickell won a silver medal in the men's 4x100-metre medley relay at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He did so alongside Graham Smith, Clay Evans and Gary MacDonald. Brian Phillips (swimmer)
Brian Phillips (born March 30, 1954) is a Canadian former competitive swimmer who won four medals in major international championship events during the early 1970s. Phillips won a total of six medals in major international championships, including the FINA World Championships, Pan American Games and Commonwealth Games. As a 17-year-old at the 1971 Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia, Phillips won silver medals as a member of the second-place Canadian teams in the 4x100-metre freestyle and 4x200-metre freestyle relay events. The following year, he represented Canada at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany, where he competed in three events. He was again a member of the Canadian relay teams in the 4x100 and 4x200-metre freestyle relay events, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively, in the event finals. The 1974 British Commonwealth Games ( mi, 1974 Taumāhekeheke Commonwealth) were held in Christchurch, New Zealand from 24 January to 2 February 1974. The bid vote was held in Edinburgh at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games. The Games were officially named "the friendly games". Bruce Richard Robertson, CM (born April 27, 1953) is a male former freestyle and butterfly swimmer from Canada,. Swimming career Robertson competed for his native country at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1972 in Munich. There he won the silver medal in the 100-metre butterfly, and bronze in the 4×100-metre medley relay, alongside Erik Fish, William Mahony and Robert Kasting. The 1970 British Commonwealth Games (Scottish Gaelic: Geamannan a 'Cho-fhlaitheis Bhreatainn 1970) were held in Edinburgh, Scotland, from 16 to 25 July 1970. This was the first time the name British Commonwealth Games was adopted, the first time metric units rather than imperial units were used in all events, and also the first time the games were held in Scotland.
